Workforce Development Specialist
New Castle County, Delaware • Full-Time • Serving Youth & Adults with Disabilities

Are you passionate about helping people discover their potential and build meaningful careers? Do you believe that every person — regardless of ability — deserves the opportunity to work, grow, and thrive? Goodwill of Delaware & Delaware County is looking for a Workforce Development Specialist who brings genuine heart and professional skill to this important role. You’ll work directly with youth and adults with disabilities, guiding them through career exploration, skills training, job readiness, and employment — making a real and lasting difference in their lives and in our community.
What You’ll Do
  • Conduct vocational and aptitude assessments and provide career exploration and counseling services tailored to each individual’s strengths, interests, and goals.
  • Develop individualized career pathway plans that connect persons served to wrap-around services, skills training, and employment opportunities.
  • Assist with job applications, resume development, interview preparation, and other job search support.
  • Provide job coaching in 1:1 and group settings at work and training sites, promoting independence and self-sufficiency.
  • Facilitate group lessons focused on job readiness, customer service skills, and workplace expectations.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with employers to identify job opportunities and educate them on inclusive hiring practices.
  • Collaborate with state agencies, schools, community partners, and natural supports to develop and deliver appropriate service plans.
  • Support retention of employment through ongoing career counseling, coaching, and follow-up services.
  • Maintain accurate case records, written reports, and timely data entry in CaseWorthy and other required systems.
  • Ensure safety policies and procedures are upheld at all worksite locations where individuals are assigned.
  • Assist with program evaluation, reporting, and compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Champion Goodwill’s mission by actively participating in initiatives that showcase the impact of workforce development programs.
What We’re Looking For
  • At least 2 years of direct experience working with individuals with disabilities (youth or adults).
  • Bachelor’s degree in a human services field preferred; an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Ability to pass required clearances and certifications to work with children/youth in Delaware and Pennsylvania.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or comparable programs; comfort with data entry and case management systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to facilitate group presentations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills; ability to collaborate across a diverse community of partners and persons served.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and integrity.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed to support persons served in their work or training environments.
  • Access to reliable private transportation; ability to travel locally up to 25% of the time between various worksites.
