Job Description

The Human Resources Business Manager serves as a strategic workforce leader within a manufacturing environment, partnering closely with plant and operations leadership to align workforce initiatives with business objectives. This role combines strategic HR leadership with hands-on operational support, focusing on organizational effectiveness, leadership development, employee engagement, and retention. The position oversees talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, compliance, training, and workforce analytics to drive both business results and workforce development.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with plant and operations leadership to align workforce strategies with overall business objectives and improve organizational effectiveness.
  • Develop and execute recruiting strategies for both hourly and salaried employees to meet staffing needs in a manufacturing environment.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, technical schools, and universities to support talent pipelines.
  • Design and implement onboarding and training programs that align with operational goals and support employee development.
  • Support compensation planning, salary benchmarking, and pay-for-performance initiatives to ensure internal equity and market competitiveness.
  • Maintain accurate workforce data and provide timely reporting and analytics to leadership teams.
  • Track workforce trends and use data-driven insights to support decision making and continuous improvement.
  • Lead employee relations activities, including investigations, conflict resolution, coaching, disciplinary actions, and performance improvement plans.
  • Partner with leaders to strengthen accountability, employee engagement, and a positive work culture.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain performance management programs that align with business objectives and drive high performance.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Support workplace safety initiatives and participate in incident investigations to promote a safe working environment.
  • Maintain and update employee handbook policies and HR procedures to reflect current practices and legal requirements.
  • Manage leave programs including FMLA, ADA accommodations, workers’ compensation, and applicable state leave programs.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and effective coordination with payroll and benefits teams for all leave-related matters.
  • Develop labor reports and management dashboards to provide visibility into workforce and labor trends.
  • Monitor labor metrics such as headcount, attendance, overtime, turnover, productivity, and labor efficiency.
  • Identify trends in labor data and provide recommendations to improve operational performance and workforce utilization.
  • Assist with workforce planning, forecasting, and staffing strategies to support current and future operational needs.
  • Provide HR administrative support and guidance to production and operations teams, ensuring consistent HR practices across the facility.
  • Support training development initiatives to build leadership capability and enhance employee skills.

Essential Skills

  • Extensive experience in human resources within manufacturing or industrial environments, with progressive leadership responsibilities (minimum 10 years of manufacturing or industrial experience indicated).
  • Strong knowledge of employee relations, including investigations, conflict resolution, coaching, and disciplinary processes.
  • Demonstrated expertise in performance management, including performance improvement plans and alignment with business objectives.
  • Proficiency in labor planning, workforce analytics, and labor reporting to support data-driven decision making.
  • Thorough understanding of federal, state, and local employment laws and HR compliance requirements.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing operations in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong administrative and HR support skills, including HR administration and documentation.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence and coach leaders at all levels.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to drive accountability, engagement, and organizational change.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Experience using HRIS systems to manage employee data and HR processes.
  • Experience with ERP systems and manufacturing reporting tools.
  • Ability to develop and interpret workforce analytics and labor reporting tools.
  • Ability to work effectively on-site and maintain a strong presence on the manufacturing floor.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience in training development and implementation within a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish skills preferred to support a diverse workforce.
  • Experience providing administrative support within production or manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with external partners such as community organizations, technical schools, and universities.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
  • Comfort working closely with operations teams and adapting HR practices to a hands-on manufacturing environment.
  • Interest in long-term career growth within a fast-growing, family-oriented manufacturing company culture.

Work Environment

This role is fully on-site in a manufacturing environment, with standard working hours of approximately 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Human Resources Business Manager maintains a frequent and visible presence on the manufacturing floor, working closely with production and operations teams. The environment is fast-paced and production-focused, utilizing HRIS systems, ERP platforms, manufacturing reporting tools, and Microsoft Office Suite for daily operations and labor analytics. The position operates within a facility setting where collaboration with plant leadership, supervisors, and hourly employees is essential, and where safety, operational efficiency, and workforce engagement are key priorities. Dress expectations align with a professional presence in a manufacturing plant, including appropriate attire and any required safety or protective equipment when on the production floor.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $115000.00/yr.

Company benefits will be provided once the client extends an offer. For now I have: Pays 82% of healthcare 2 weeks vacation Management has 3-4 weeks could start with 5 5 years = 5 weeks vacation Bonuses
