Job Summary
The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a federal work study student in the Tutoring Services department on the Oconee campus. The writing peer consultant is responsible for tutoring students in university-level composition and grammar and assisting students, faculty, and staff with services provided by the Writing Center.
Responsibilities
  • Read student essays and make suggestions for improvement in content development, organization, formatting, style, and grammar/mechanics.
  • Explain instructor comments/corrections on students¿ assignments.
  • Conduct workshops related to composition.
  • Assist in the general operation of the Writing Center, including recording session notes.
  • Perform other duties assigned by supervisor.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Experience with Microsoft Office software, especially Word.
  • Effectively present information/work with students, faculty, staff, and the general public.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret student compositions, literature, and scholarship.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Required Qualifications
  • Must be enrolled at the University of North Georgia in a minimum of six (6) credit hours to qualify as a student worker.
