Job description

The Archdiocese of Chicago, the third largest in the United States, serves more than 2.2 million Catholics in 216 parishes in Cook County and Lake County, a geographic area of 1,411 square miles. The Archdiocese, pastored by Cardinal Blase J. Cupich, has more than 13,000 employees in its systems and ministries, including Catholic Charities, the region's largest nonprofit social service agency. The Archdiocese also has one of the country's largest seminaries. The Archdiocese's 150+ elementary and secondary schools comprise one of the largest U.S. private school systems. Its schools have received 96 U.S. Department of Education Blue Ribbon Awards.
The work-study position offers college students opportunities to serve the mission of the Office of Catholic Schools, namely, providing an excellent Catholic education to students in our schools. Persons serving in this capacity perform an important community service by providing important administrative support services to our schools,
including those in impoverished areas. The position is by design a temporary, part-time position with an average of ten (10 - 19) hours per week (minimum of five and a maximum of fifteen hours per week). Work hours are hybrid - in person and remote and occur during normal business hours of 9:00 am to 4:30 pm. Dependable and stable work hours are important for this position as well as regular communication about any changes to their weekly schedule.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Data Entry into Excel Spreadsheets
  • Uploading information to Google docs
  • Phone contact with schools regarding survey and other related activities
  • Follow data quality procedures as directed
  • Research via the internet
  • General record keeping, filing, photocopying

Other Responsibilities
  • Other research projects as directed by the Director of International Students Program and Operation
  • Consulting and relevant project/program staff
  • Input into Microsoft Word
  • Clerical tasks, as needed or directed

Position Requirements
  • Currently enrolled college/university student
  • Has work-study funds to support employment in this position
  • Strong computer skills (e.g., Excel, Word,)
  • Willingness and ability to strengthen all skills needed or helpful in this position
  • Flexible and Team Oriented Attitude
  • Availability to work during normal business hours at the Office of Catholic Schools and/or remote
  • Compensation is $17.00 - $18.00 per hour depending on experience.
  • Sick & Personal Days - Part-time benefits eligible employees will earn a pro-rated amount of sick time based on their schedule. Employees who are not eligible for benefits accumulate one hour of sick leave for every 35 hours worked, up to a maximum of 40 hours per year.
  • Paid Time Off School employees in a 10-month
    position, as well as all part-time employees not eligible for benefits, will earn one hour of paid time off for every 35 hours worked, up to a maximum of 40 hours per year

Reporting
  • Reports to the Director of International Students and Operations Consulting for Task Assignments but may be directed by other OCS staff on special projects.
