Job description

POSITION:  FIRST CLASS Teacher

                    Fairborn Middle School

DESCRIPTION:

  • FIRST Class is a computer based class using a combination of the Edmentum Online Learning Program, direct instruction and one-on-one help when needed.
  • This class offers students the ability to individually work at an educational pace that follows the content area(s) pacing guide ensuring a smooth transition back into the general classroom setting.
  • Students in FIRST Class also work on Social-Emotional skills in small group settings to enhance the needed skills to be successful in all aspects of their lives.
  • Students from a variety of backgrounds are placed in FIRST Class with the intention of semester rotations back into the general educational setting.
  • The goal of FIRST Class is to meet the need(s) of the whole child, ensuring a successful transition to the general education setting.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ohio Teacher Certificate or License (Middle Childhood with at least ELA or 1-8 Certificate)
  • Ability and desire to work with students with challenging behavior
  • Ability and desire to be part of a collaborative team to support students
  • Knowledge of computer based learning with ability to manage digital content in the core subject areas
  • Skill in building rapport and communicating with students and parents
  • Ability to differentiate and individualize instruction
  • Knowledge of computer software and ability to troubleshoot
