Job Title: ย ย Paraprofessional, Vocational (CTE)
Pay Program:ย  ย Support Staff, Non-Exempt
Pay Range: ย  Range 7 $18.73 - $20.87 *Pending board approval
Work Year:ย  ย ย Student Contact Days (175 Days / 6.5 Hours)ย 
Reports to:ย  ย  Building Leader
Direct Reports:ย  This position has no supervisory responsibilities.ย 






Summary
Operating under the direction of the Building Leader, this position supports teachers and students in Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs by assisting with classroom instruction, supervising hands-on training, and reinforcing workplace readiness skills.ย  This role helps maintain a safe and productive learning environment, supports student growth in academic and social-emotional skills, and promotes connections between school, industry partners, and the community.ย  Specialized program duties may vary by assignment (e.g., Companion Animals, Horticulture, Early Childhood Education/Teacher Cadet, Compact Engine Repair, Construction, Culinary, and Criminal Justice).

Job Responsibility Description

1. Instructional and Vocational Support - Specialized Program Duties

  • Assist the teacher in delivering curriculum, implementing lesson plans,ย  and maintaining a positive, productive classroom environment.
  • Support instruction in vocational programs and hands-on training activities, including project-based learning.
  • Reinforce the teacher's expectations by coaching and guiding students during skill practice and workplace readiness tasks.
  • Observe and report student participation, progress, and program effectiveness to the teacher to support performance-based learning plans.
  • Reinforce employability skills such as punctuality, teamwork, professionalism, and problem-solving.
  • Transport students to field experiences, field trips and work-based learning locations as needed.ย 

2. Behavior and Social Emotional Support

  • Supervise students during work sessions, while using equipment, and during breaks and transitions.
  • Provide bus loading/unloading supervision as assigned.
  • Monitor student behavior and support development of social-emotional skills.
  • Guide students in building self-management skills and making positive choices.
  • Model and reinforce D51 Social Emotional Learning practices in daily interactions.

3. Classroom and Materials Support

  • Prepare, create, copy, and compile instructional and classroom materials as directed.
  • Assist with tracking and reviewing student assignments.
  • Support safe and appropriate use of vocational tools, machinery, and technology.
  • Maintain proper organization, inventory, and storage of equipment and materials.
  • Assist with equipment setup, basic maintenance, and care of program facilities.

4. Testing and Clerical Support

  • Assist with the logistics of classroom, vocational,ย  and state testing, including small group administration.
  • Support students in Work Keys or other certifications and industry credentials.

5. Meetings, Trainings, and Other Activities

  • Participate in staff meetings, in-service training, and other building-level professional development activities as assigned.
  • Attend and assist with school functions, field trips, off-site tours, and special projects as assigned.

6. Other Duties

  • Additional tasks, duties, and responsibilities may be assigned as needed/requested.

Specialized Program Duties


Companion Animal Health and Care

  • Support students in programs including Veterinary Technician Prep Certification and retail/entrepreneurship pathways.
  • Assist with daily operation of the on-site grooming and pet care business (e.g., bathing, grooming, kennel care).
  • Guide students in customer service, scheduling, basic accounting, and conflict resolution with clients.
  • Support instruction on small animal CPR, Work Keys preparation, and industry-recognized certifications.
  • Collaborate with local clinics, groomers, and businesses to expand apprenticeship, internship, and employment pathways.
  • Maintain supplies and equipment for grooming stations, kennels, and classroom spaces.


Horticultureย 

  • Assist with hands-on instruction and supervision in the floral design, greenhouse operations, and plant care.
  • Support student projects and sales through preparation of materials and coordination of activities.
  • Maintain financial logs and program supply inventories.
  • Assist with purchasing and community partnerships for program growth.


Early Childhood/Teacher Cadet

  • Support instruction in early childhood and childcare vocational programs.
  • Supervise students in classroom labs, childcare settings, and off-site experiences.ย 

Compact Engineย 

  • Support students in small engine diagnostics, repair, and overhaul of four-cycle engines.
  • Assist with Briggs & Stratton technician accounts and access to Power Portal.
  • Supervise shop safety, tool use, and hands-on repair activities.
  • Help manage inventory, donations, and financial records.
  • Support procurement of parts, tools, and materials.


Education and Experienceย 
Acceptable demonstration of acceptable education and/or experience will be at the sole discretion of the District


  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate's degree, completion of at least 48 semester hours of college coursework, or a passing score on the WorkKeys assessment (or other approved assessment) required for Title I schools
  • Experience working with students in an educational or training environment preferred
  • Background in vocational, technical, or career-related field (construction, manufacturing, IT, or other trade) preferred

Licenses, Registrations or Certifications

  • Criminal background check required for hire
  • Valid Colorado driver's license or valid Colorado identification required
  • Obtain and maintain the District's Small Vehicle Permit within 60 days of hire
  • Must be able to lift 35 pounds. Lift test required at time of hire
