Job description

A manufacturing company located in Ravenna, OH is looking for a Wire EDM Operator. This person is responsible for setting up, programming, operating and maintaining Wire Discharge Machining (EDM) equipment to produce precision components according to engineering drawings and customer specifications.

This role requires strong attention to detail, knowledge of machining principles, and a commitment to producing high quality parts while maintaining a safe and organized environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Set up and operate Wire EDM machines to manufacture parts
  • Read and interpret blue prings, engineering drawings, CAD models and work instructions.
  • Must have knowledge of 5 Axis CNC Programming and CAD experience.
  • Program or edit CNC Programs as needed to meet production requirements
  • Select and install proper wire, fixtures, tooling, and workholding devices.
  • Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, height guages, and CMM equipment when required.
  • Verify dimmensional accuracy and ensure that the parts meet quality standards and tolerances.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance and make adjustments to optimize efficiency and quality.
  • Monitor machine performance and make adjustments to optimize eficiency and quality.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and recommend corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurrate production, inspection, and maintenance records.
  • Follow all company safety policies, quality procedures, and housekeeping standards.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Quality and Production Teams to improve the manufacturing processes.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or GED Required
  • Experience operating Wire EDM machines in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Ability to read blueprints, GD&T and technical drawings.
  • Must have knowledge of 5 Axis CNC Programming and CAD experience.
  • Familiarity with precision measuring equipment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Basic computer skills. (Must be able to use Microsoft Suite- Word, Outlook, Excel )

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with Mitsubishi, Makino, Sodick, Fanuc or similar Wire EDM equipment.
  • Knowledge of CAD/CAM software
  • Experience in tool and die, mold making, aerospace, medical or precision manufacturing.
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing and continuous improvment principals.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs occasionally
  • Manual dexterity to handle small precision parts and tools.
  • Good vision including close attention to detail and color recognition where applicable.
