Position Summary
The Career Advisor provides career guidance, case management, and job ready services to participants enrolled in the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) program. This role supports job seekers in achieving sustainable employment and career advancement through formal and informal skills assessment to develop individualized service plans, occupational training opportunities, and linkage to job openings based on skills and experience. The Career Advisor ensures compliance with federal, state, and local workforce development regulations for enrollment eligibility, while delivering high-quality customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct eligibility screenings and enroll participants into WIOA Adult, Dislocated Worker, and/or Youth programs
  • Perform comprehensive assessments of participant skills, interests, barriers, and career goals
  • Develop individualized employment plans (IEPs) with measurable goals and timelines
  • Provide ongoing case management, including regular follow-ups and documentation
  • Maintain accurate and timely participant records in case management systems
  • Deliver career counseling, labor market information, and job search assistance
  • Facilitate workshops on resume writing, interviewing skills, and job readiness
  • Assist participants with career pathway exploration aligned with in-demand industries in the Cincinnati region
  • Connect participants to supportive services such as transportation, childcare, and work-related needs
  • Identify and coordinate occupational skills training opportunities (e.g., ITAs, on-the-job training, apprenticeships)
  • Monitor participant progress in training programs and ensure successful completion
  • Collaborate with training providers, community colleges, and partner agencies
  • Ensure adherence to WIOA regulations, policies, and meet team/individual performance metrics
  • Track outcomes such as employment placement, retention, and earnings
  • Prepare reports and documentation for audits and program monitoring
  • Maintain confidentiality of participant information
Qualifications:
  • 2 years’ experience in career counseling, case management and Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Social Work, Business, Education, or related field or 5 years equivalent experience with HS Diploma
  • Strong counseling, coaching, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage caseloads of 30+ participants and meet performance targets
  • Proficiency in data systems, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and digital workspaces (examples: common AI tools, Sharepoint, MS Teams)
  • Strong documentation, organizational, and time management skills
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations, including individuals with barriers to employment
Salary Range: $52k - $55k/Annually
