About the opportunity
WinnCompanies is looking for an Accounting Manager to join the accounting division in our Independence Regional Operations located in Independence, OH.
In this role, you will oversee the overall financial management of their assigned portfolio ensuring financial integrity. You will also manage several accountants to achieve professional and departmental goals, act as Winn intermediary with external audit firms, oversee the audit process to ensure completion that meets timelines, and act as a member of working group for departmental cross-functional projects.
Additionally, the selected candidate will typically work: Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Please note that this position will work in a hybrid model.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the overall financial management of assigned portfolio. Ensure financial integrity. Liaise with Winn business partners.
- Manage relationship with internal and external clients. Review and approve the annual accounting budget.
- Act as the accounting lead person by collaborating with cross-functional teams for the acquisition, disposition, consolidation, and refinancing of properties.
- Manage several accountants to ensure the financial integrity of their portfolios. Hire, develop, and/or mentor to professional and departmental goals. Train accountants on Winn practice, policy and procedures, accounting standards, and compliance standards.
- Oversee the audit process. Act as Winn intermediary with external auditors by researching, compiling, and responding to all audit requests to ensure completion and meeting internal and external timelines.
- Act as member of corporate, departmental, or cross-functional projects. Implement new financial software. Develop, implement, and document policy, procedure, and practices. Drive continuous process improvement.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant work experience.
- Minimum of 1 year of supervisory experience.
- Comprehensive understanding of advanced accounting and financial principles.
- Advanced-level skills with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
- Ability to multi-task and manage a fast-paced office environment.
- Ability to manage and work with a diverse group of people and personalities.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong supervisory skills.
- Superb attention to detail.
- Self-starter who can operate with high degree of autonomy.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Direct property management industry experience.
