The Compliance Associate (Business Advisor) is responsible for overseeing compliance processes and ensuring all government regulations are being met by our clients. We build meaningful, long-term relationships with winery owner/operators, winemakers, and growers, allowing you to work closely with clients who genuinely value your guidance.

This role is for our firm located in Santa Rosa, called AWG Wine Advisors. AWG Wine Advisors is a specialized accounting and advisory firm dedicated exclusively to the wine industry. With decades of hands-on winery finance experience, we blend industry-specific expertise with high-level technical accounting knowledge to support boutique and family-run wineries.


What you will do:

  • Handles federal and California tax reports, and out of state compliance, including TTB Monthly Report of Operations, TTB Excise Tax Reports, CA Sales & Use Tax Reports, CA Winegrower Monthly Reports, CA Sales and Use Tax Returns and out of state brand & label registrations. out of state Monthly Shipment Reporting.
  • Navigate compliance regulations and communicate with various federal and state government agencies on behalf of clients.
  • Maintain clear and accurate operations documents/procedures.
  • Ensure client deliverables are within allotted budget and timelines,
  • Assist Senior Compliance Associate and other duties as assigned

  • Associates’ degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field preferred.
  • 1+ years winery experience/general knowledge of the alcoholic beverage industry, particularly compliance issues.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

  • Superior organizational skills, detail oriented, must be able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

The expected salary range for this role is $50,000 - $80,000 per year, which represents a good faith and reasonable estimate. Compensation decisions depend on numerous factors including bona fide qualifications and the facts and circumstances of each case at the time of hiring. Relevant qualifications include, but are not limited to employee education, training, skillset, credentials/certifications, relevant work experience, geographic work location (including if the employee will be hybrid or fully in-office), the scope and responsibilities of the role, internal level and peer equity, and market considerations.
