This is a contingent position pending funding + contract award in the September 2026 timeframe.

The Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) is an organization of approximately 2,000 personnel of which 700 serve at HQ and the remaining staff serve at offices worldwide. NCIS is the DON component with primary responsibility for criminal investigation, law enforcement (LE), counterterrorism (CT), counterintelligence (CI), and cyber matters. NCIS not only has primary responsibility for all criminal investigative, CI, CT, and cyber matters within the DON, but it also has exclusive investigative jurisdiction in non-combat matters involving actual, potential, or suspected criminal, terrorism, sabotage, espionage and subversive activities.

MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT

As a Senior VMware Administrator/SAN Storage Administrator, the work youll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of the IT Technology Operations division within the NCIS ITD organization and performs the following responsibilities/functions:

  • Perform as the Lead on the Operations Team; manage people to include time and administrative tasks

  • Implement STIG releases across a variety of operating systems and applications

  • Tracks and remediates IAVM vulnerabilities

  • Manages ACAS vulnerability reports and remediates as required

  • Performs software upgrades, patch installs, firmware upgrades

  • Diagnosis and troubleshoot problems related to the OS, hardware, network, and related software

  • Daily written and oral communications with coworkers and leadership

  • Continual attention to periodic SCAP and STIG requirements needed to harden the servers

  • Troubleshoot and configure servers in a virtual environment using vSphere

  • Create scripts in various shells to automate daily and periodic tasks

  • Document work for leadership, update/create Standard Operating Procedures, and brief staff and customers various tasks

WHAT YOULL NEED:

Bring your engineering expertise along with a drive for innovation to GDIT. Our Senior VMware Administrator/SAN Storage Administratormust have:

  • Security Clearance Level: Active TS/SCI clearance. A Top Secret with SCI eligibility is also acceptable.

  • Required Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience with systems administration

  • DoW system accreditation process

  • STIG checklist review process to include SCAP scans and implementation

  • Microsoft SCCM package creation and deployment

  • Group Policy Management administration to include policy creation and maintenance

  • Familiarity with Windows Server 2019 and Windows 10 including deployment via SCCM / standalone options

  • Improvingsystem operations and functionality, monitoring, and optimization of servers and workstations

  • Previous exposure with VMware virtual environments versions 7.x and 8.x

  • Familiarity with Cisco UCS and Cisco Hx Sytems

  • Experience with NETAPP SAN Systems and PureStorage

  • Required Certifications: CompTIA Security+ CE

  • Education: BS Degree or equivalent Computer Science or IT related degree

  • Location: Hybrid 3 days onsite at Quantico, VA / 2 days remote

  • Position Availability: This is a contingent position pending funding + contract award in the September 2026 timeframe.

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $111,155 - $150,385. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
