MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT:

As a Systems Engineer Senior, the work youll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of USCENTCOM. You will play a crucial role in the design, implementation, and administration of Windows-based enterprise environments, with an emphasis on Active Directory, Group Policy, domain management, and advanced scripting automation. The engineer will ensure secure, scalable, and reliable operations across USCENTCOMs enterprise systems while collaborating with cross-functional IT teams.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and manage Active Directory forests, domains, and trusts, ensuring secure and efficient identity management.

  • Develop, configure, and enforce Group Policy Objects (GPOs) to support organizational security and operational requirements.

  • Administer and maintain domain controllers, DNS, DHCP, and certificate services in a large-scale enterprise environment.

  • Create, optimize, and maintain advanced PowerShell scripts and other automation tools to streamline system administration and reporting.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex Windows server and domain-related issues, ensuring minimal operational impact.

  • Oversee lifecycle management of Windows systems, including patching, upgrades, and decommissioning.

  • Implement and maintain security baselines for Windows systems, including access controls and auditing.

  • Support disaster recovery and business continuity planning for Windows infrastructure.

  • Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate Windows environments with cloud (Azure, AWS) and hybrid solutions.

  • Maintain detailed documentation of Active Directory architecture, GPO configurations, and domain management procedures.

  • Provide technical expertise during USCENTCOM exercises, ensuring Windows systems operate securely and reliably.

  • Evaluate and integrate new Microsoft technologies and tools into the enterprise environment.

  • Additional Responsibilities:

  • Conduct performance tuning and optimization of Windows systems to ensure high availability.

  • Research and implement emerging Microsoft technologies and best practices.

  • Support cross-functional IT projects involving Windows infrastructure design, deployment, and integration.

  • STIG, PACHES and compliances for all windows platforms.

WHAT YOULL NEED TO SUCCEED :

Bring your technology expertise and drive for innovation to GDIT. The Systems Engineer Senior must have:

  • Certification: Applicable DoD 8140 or DoD 8570 Certification

  • Experience: 5 to 8 years of related experience

  • Technical skills:

    • Proven experience in Windows systems engineering and enterprise domain management.

    • Deep expertise in Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and PKI.

    • Advanced proficiency in PowerShell scripting for automation and reporting.

    • Strong understanding of Windows security principles, including access control and auditing.

    • Ability to prepare and maintain detailed documentation for Windows systems and configurations.

    • Familiarity with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud-based solutions.

    • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

    • Strong communication skills for working with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

  • Desired Skills:

    • Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate

    • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)

    • ITIL 4 Foundation Certification

    • Experience supporting USCENTCOM or other DoD organizations.

    • Hands-on experience with Azure Active Directory and hybrid identity solutions.

    • Knowledge of configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef) in Windows environments.

    • Experience designing and implementing disaster recovery and business continuity strategies.

    • Familiarity with automation platforms for CI/CD in Windows infrastructure

  • Security clearance level: TS/SCI required

  • US citizenship required

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $131,750 - $178,250. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
