Systems Engineer

NexTech Solutions (NTS) is a team of experts and engineers who understand the challenges that organizations face in finding and implementing the best technologies and IT solutions to meet mission requirements. We work with our government customers in defense and civilian agencies to identify new technologies. The Opportunity We are seeking a Systems Engineer to support our core automation platform and serve as a trusted technical partner to our customers. This role is a mid-level position with responsibility for leading projects technically while working closely with cross-functional internal teams and customer stakeholders. This is a hybrid position based in Tampa, FL, combining remote work with on-site customer engagements. The System Engineer will play a key role in post-sales implementation, optimization, and ongoing support. This role requires both strong hands-on technical expertise and the ability to translate business requirements into effective, automated technical solutions.

Technical Leadership & Project Execution

  • Lead the technical execution of customer-facing projects from initiation through completion, ensuring successful delivery of automated solutions.
  • Serve as the technical lead on assigned engagements, coordinating tasks across internal engineering, product, and support teams.
  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable, secure, and automated system architectures aligned with customer requirements.
  • Troubleshoot complex infrastructure, automation, and virtualization issues across customer environments. Ensure solutions meet performance, reliability, and security expectations.

Customer Engagement & Solution Delivery

  • Act as a primary technical point of contact for customers during post-sales implementation and delivery phases.
  • Advocate for customer needs internally to ensure alignment between delivery, product, and engineering teams.
  • Lead technical discussions with customer engineering and operations teams, including architecture reviews and implementation planning.
  • Gather, analyze, and document customer business and technical requirements.
  • Translate business needs into clear technical designs and automation workflows.

Automation & Platform Support

  • Support and optimize core automation platform across diverse customer environments.
  • Develop, enhance, and maintain automation workflows using automation frameworks.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce manual processes through automation and workflow optimization.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of automation standards, templates, and best practices.

Infrastructure, Virtualization & Identity Management

  • Administer and troubleshoot Linux and Windows Server Environments
  • Design, deploy, and support virtualization platforms, including VMware VSphere, KYM, Docker, LXC and Harvester/Rancher.
  • Manage and integrate identity and access management systems, including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and related services.
  • Ensure infrastructure and system configurations align with customer security and compliance requirements.

Documentation & Knowledge Management

  • Produce and maintain clear, accurate technical documentation, including system architectures, implementation guides, and operational runbooks.
  • Contribute to internal knowledge bases and best practice repositories to improve delivery consistency.
  • Document automation workflows, configuration standards, and troubleshooting procedures.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate closely with Product Management to provide feedback from customer deployments and identify enhancement opportunities.
  • Work with internal engineering and support teams to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Participate in internal design reviews and technical planning sessions.
