Job description

MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Windows System Administrator to join our team in Laurel, MD.

ResponsibilitiesInclude but are not limited to:

  • Design, deploy, and administer virtualized Windows platforms using VMware.
  • Work with security teams to support systems security compliance (certification and accreditation).
  • Automate account provisioning, disabling and archiving using PowerShell, Bash and Python scripting
  • Conduct Nessus scanning and execute targeted remediation strategies to maintain system integrity
  • Leverage Splunk to monitor host performance, identify reporting errors, and resolve configuration issues
  • Support day-to-day operations, monitoring, and troubleshooting for client, server, and network devices
  • Provide support for IT systems including day-to-day helpdesk operations, monitoring, and problem resolution for client, server, storage, and network devices
  • Collaborate on evening patching cycles and provide reliable availability during core coverage hours (6AM-6PM)

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 12 years of relevant experience or an associate’s degree and fifteen 15 years of relevant experience or 20 years with a high school diploma
  • IAT I certification (DoD 8140 certification required, Acceptable certifications include A+ CE/CCNA-Security/CND/Network+ CE /CySA+/GICSP/GSEC/Security+ CE/CND/SSCP)
  • Experience with providing comprehensive Windows support, from initial triage and diagnosis to advanced problem resolution
  • Experience deploying virtual machines and managing configurations using Puppet and Ansible
  • Managing and troubleshooting VMware environments

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with remote console monitoring and Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI) protocols
  • Experience with compiling software, resolving build errors, and managing dependencies within Git repositories
  • Configure, query, and manage PostgreSQL and other SQL database systems to ensure optimal data flow
  • Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues across all layers of the OSI model
  • Monitor automated tasks and maintain scripting workflows utilizing GIT repositories
  • Demonstrate proficiency in managing and troubleshooting Omnissa Horizon and VMware environments
  • Basic understanding of integrating and utilizing Application Programming Interfaces (APIs)
  • Experience with troubleshooting CISCO routers/switches/firewalls
  • Create and monitor various automated tasks via scripting (Python, PowerShell) maintained in Git repositories.

Clearance Requirements:

  • Must have a current/active TS/SCI w/ Polygraph.
  • Must be a US Citizen

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidate should be able to move, carry and deliver workstations from inside the office to customer’s desk.  The person in this position must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time. Must communicate with co-workers, management, and customers, via email, phone, and or virtual communication, which may involve delivering presentations.
