The ideal candidate will focus on measurable outcomes in areas such as availability, change success rates, and incident response. This role involves shared ownership of core infrastructure platforms, including virtualization, storage, firewalls, and server lifecycle management. Additionally, the candidate will work to mitigate single-thread risks in daily operations and modernization initiatives.
This is an on-site position in Westlake, Ohio.
What Your Responsibilities Will Look Like:
· Administer and support Windows and Linux servers, including core services and server lifecycle activities (build, patch, upgrade, decommission).
· Operate and maintain the virtualization platform (VMware and/or Hyper-V), including capacity planning, lifecycle management, and troubleshooting.
· Administer SAN/storage platforms, including configuration, performance monitoring, and capacity management.
· Support network troubleshooting and coordinate with network/security teams to resolve infrastructure incidents and performance issues.
· Implement and maintain monitoring and alerting, ensuring actionable telemetry and timely incident response.
· Execute backup/restore operations and validate recoverability through routine testing.
· Support firewall and segmentation change requests in partnership with network/security teams; follow established change control.
· Contribute to modernization work (e.g., Windows Server upgrades and SQL high availability initiatives) by providing infrastructure readiness, implementation support, and operational handoff.
· Develop and maintain runbooks, standard operating procedures, and configuration documentation for core infrastructure services.
· Participate in on-call/after-hours support rotation as required.
Qualifications to Be an Infrastructure Administrator:
- 3+ years of enterprise infrastructure administration experience supporting production environments.
- Demonstrated troubleshooting skills across server, virtualization, storage, and networking layers.
- Experience with Windows Server administration (Active Directory fundamentals, DNS/DHCP concepts, patching, hardening).
- Experience administering Linux systems in an enterprise setting (user/group management, services, patching, troubleshooting).
- Hands-on experience with backups, restores, and disaster recovery practices.
- Working knowledge of security best practices (least privilege, secure configuration, vulnerability remediation coordination).
- Ability to follow change management and incident management processes with clear communication and documentation.
Preferred Skills:
· VMware vSphere and/or Microsoft Hyper-V administration experience.
· Intune experience for endpoint/server management (where applicable).
· PowerShell scripting for automation and operational tooling.
· Experience with monitoring platforms and log analysis (tool-agnostic; ability to tune alerts and dashboards).
· Experience supporting firewall operations and segmentation workflows (in partnership with network/security teams).
Success Measures (Examples)
· Improved infrastructure availability and reduced incident duration through better coverage, faster triage, and stronger operational hygiene.
· Consistent on-time patching/upgrade execution aligned to change windows and compliance requirements.
· Validated backups and restore tests with documented results and remediation of gaps.
· Progress and throughput on infrastructure modernization initiatives (e.g., Windows Server upgrades, SQL HA/DR enablement).
· High-quality documentation/runbooks that reduce time-to-recover and simplify cross-coverage.
