Job description

HSE Advisor – Solar and Wind (Nebraska) – Atlas Professionals

Atlas Professionals is seeking an HSE Advisor to support maintenance work at various wind and solar farm sites. The initial assignment will be at Haystack Wind Farm in Carroll, NE. The work will include replacement and repair of major components of wind turbine generators, including WTG main bearings and possibly WTG blades. Additional work may be at sites in South Dakota or Texas. This role is 5 days per week with 10‑hour days, with some flexibility to accommodate project needs. This is a 3‑month contract, with the option to extend for an additional 3 months.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary HSE point of contact on‑site, providing expert advice, guidance, and support to project management, site personnel, contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Conduct daily site inspections and observations to identify potential hazards and unsafe practices, ensuring compliance with client HSE policies, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements (OSHA, EPA, etc.).
  • Actively participate in and lead daily safety briefings (toolbox talks), pre‑job hazard assessments (JHA/JSA), and pre‑start meetings.
  • Ensure all personnel adhere to site‑specific safety plans, permits‑to‑work, and lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures.
  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments for all planned work activities, particularly for complex operations like WTG main bearing and blade replacements.
  • Lead or support incident investigations to determine root causes, develop corrective actions, and ensure timely implementation.
  • Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date HSE documentation, including safety plans, permits, inspection records, training records, and incident reports.
  • Assist in the development, review, and revision of site‑specific HSE plans and procedures.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 3‑5 years of dedicated HSE experience, preferably in the renewable energy sector, with a strong focus on wind turbine maintenance and/or construction.
  • Demonstrated experience overseeing HSE for major component replacement projects on WTGs (e.g., main bearings, gearboxes, blades) is highly preferred.
  • Nationally recognized HSE certification(s).
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to various site locations.
  • Experience with solar farm maintenance operations is a plus.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively influence and engage personnel at all levels.
