Description The WIC Program Manager/Dietician is responsible for clinic nutrition services for skilled care nursing homes, home delivered meals, quantity food operation and the WIC program; while providing nutrition services to Clark County residents. The WIC Program Manager/Dietician is responsible for planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of the Clark County WIC Program. Examples of Duties Responsibilities include collaborating with other dietitians on any or all of the following: menu and recipe management; therapeutic and texture modified diets; food, supplies, and equipment purchasing; quality in food receiving, storage, preparation, and service; food and water safety and sanitation; foodservice in emergency situations; employee meals, catering for special events; ergonomics/safety; infection control and kitchen/dining design/redesign.
Solicit or incorporate strategies to encourage Customers to participate in establishing goals and customer-focused action plans during interviews, care conferences, mealtimes, and contacts with families, and Resident Voice. Perform personnel functions consistent with job responsibilities: orientation and training, scheduling, supervision, competence assessment, and mentoring for WIC personnel. Participate and develop training, supervision, and ongoing support to facility wide personnel as they provide delivery of person-centered care in dining services.
Monitor areas for fire and safety hazards and participate in fire and disaster drills, responding appropriately to Emergency Codes. Practice reflects Standards of Practice, Professional Performance, and Code of Ethics for Registered Dietitians. Demonstrate competence by documenting positive outcomes and customer satisfaction.
Respect resident rights and maintain confidentiality of information. Safe, quality customer-centered service is provided. Pursue relevant opportunities (education, training, credentials, and certifications) to stay current with regulatory process and to advance practice.
Meet Commission on Dietetic Registration and/or WI Certification recertification requirements. Integrates knowledge of food and nutrition with knowledge of health, social sciences, communication, and management and share information with clients/customers, colleagues, and the public. Participate as resource within the interdisciplinary health-care and management team promoting food and nutrition strategies that enhance health and quality of life outcomes.
Knowledge in assessment data to determine that a nutrition diagnosis/problem does or does not exist. Identify problems that require consultation with or referral to another provider are recognized. Participates in conferences with customers, care givers and interdisciplinary team, as appropriate, to develop nutrition intervention/plan of care.
Appropriate individualized person centered nutrition intervention/plan of care is developed. Nutrition interventions/plans of care are delivered and actions are carried out. Evaluate for nutritional outcomes (e.g
change in knowledge, behavior, food or nutrient intake). Monitor for clinical and health status outcomes (e.g. lab values, body weight, risk factors, signs/symptoms, morbidity)
Develop strategies to meet individual needs. Responsible for assessing project needs and participants' health and nutrition status. Use collected information to improve WIC services related to accessibility, nutrition, access to food and nutrition resources, and coordination of adjunct food, nutrition/health services, clinic schedules, outreach, and program improvement.
Follow WIC State/Federal guidelines and assure implementation of policies and procedures. Ensure anthropometric/hematological measurements are accurate; health/diet/breastfeeding assessments monitored and identify success and risk factors; nutrition counseling is goal oriented for risks/participant concerns; breastfeeding education/support offered to pregnant and breastfeeding women; all education contacts address participant's needs and are delivered in a person-centered manner; referrals made and documented for all clients. Perform personnel functions consistent with job responsibilities: orientation and training, supervision, competence assessment, and mentoring for Spanish Interpreter/Bilingual Certifier, Clerk and Health Screener (Nutrition Assistants).
Build and maintain community relations to further the core mission of WIC by: developing project referral policies; participate in community and nutrition needs assessments, ensure project promotes/supports breastfeeding as the norm; develop and maintain effective partnerships within the agency, community (eg schools, Headstart) and with other WIC projects; collaborate with county organizations to increase access to healthy foods and to increase physical activity; use culturally appropriate community engagement strategies to improve the health of the WIC population. Ensure WIC staff functions effectively with Public Health system by: identify role of WIC in public health nutrition; identify the role of WIC in emergency services; identify collaborative role with local Public Health Department. Typical Qualifications A Bachelor's Degree in Dietetics or related field and State of Wisconsin certified Dietitian is required.
Experience in combination of Nursing Home and the WIC program. If applicable, the candidate must obtain and maintain certification in Lactation Consultation or Lactation Specialist; 75 CEU every 5 years and/or State of Wisconsin Certified Dietician to maintain Registered Dietician credentials and ServSafe course and exam every 5 years.
