Position Summary: 

Perform a variety of heat treat operations on production parts.

Essential Responsibilities:  

  • Must be cross-trained on multiple furnaces.
  • Set-up and operate gas-fired furnaces and associated quenching devices to ensure parts are heat treated to specifications.
  • Utilize wheelabrator, measuring devices such as micrometers, etc. - hardness testing devices, basic hand tools, natural gas torches, presses and clamps, cranes and floor dies.
  • Utilize production furnaces and associated quenching dies to ensure proper hardness, size and flatness of all parts.
  • Perform necessary size and hardness checks.
  • Maintain accurate log for equipment used.
  • Set-up floor dies and participate in quenching operations
  • Responsible for floor die quench operation when operating production furnace.
  • Operate wheelabrator when directed.
  • Assist in carburizing operation by loading/unloading baskets using standard procedures.
  • Examine carburizing fixtures and baskets reporting unserviceable conditions to supervision.
  • Participate in charging and quenching operations.
  • Performs straightening operations as directed by supervision.
  • Responsible for care of company tools, observance of safety regulations, and correct reporting of time and production.
  • Also responsible for maintaining equipment in good working order - maintain a neat & orderly work area.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 18 year of age or older.
  • Must be eligible to work in the US.
  • Must be willing to work overtime.
  • Must be willing to work any shift.
  • Mechanical abilities are required to perform this job.
  • Able to read, write and perform basic mathematics.
  • Able to make decisions on a variety of problems.
  • Able to accurately follow Heat Treat and ISO procedures.
  • Able to perform physically demanding work.
