Job description

Cascade AIDS Project (CAP) is the oldest and largest AIDS Service Organization (ASO) in Oregon and Southwest Washington that provides the LGBTQ+ community and beyond with compassionate healthcare. CAP’s mission is to promote well-being and advance equity by providing inclusive health and wellness services for LGBTQ+ people, people affected by HIV, and all those seeking compassionate care.  Cascade AIDS Project is excited to announce that we are hiring skilled and team-Oriented Program Assistant. This position serves as the first point of contact and liaison between clients/visitors and CAP service providers, always ensuring excellent customer service. The Program Assistant is responsible for creating an atmosphere of comfort, compassion and respect for CAP clients and visitors, while upholding safety and compliance standards. The Program Assistant provides administrative support to front-line staff and management and program support to the Housing and Support Services department.

This is a Full-Time (32 hours) role working at our Davis St. location in the Old-Town area of Portland. The schedule for this role is fully in office Monday-Thursday 8:30am-5:00pm.The pay for this positions is $29.18 an hour which is equivalent to just over $48,547 a year. The Program Assistant’s pay increases with tenure and the top of the pay scale is $33.99. This is a union represented position, so the compensation, benefits and conditions of work are collectively bargained.

Who You Are

  • At least two years of experience providing similar clerical support and duties at a high-volume service-based organization OR an Associate’s degree or equivalent and one year of experience providing similar support. 
  • Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently or within a team with accountability and exercise good boundaries, sound judgment, discretion and professionalism at all times.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to track and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Demonstrated successful experience working with ethnic, racial, economic and sexually diverse populations and persons who have experienced homelessness, persons with a mental illness and/or substance addiction
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred

What You’ll Do

  • You will greet CAP clients and visitors, informs appropriate staff of people waiting to be seen, directs clients and visitors to offices or waiting area as appropriate and provides information about CAP services and community resources to those inquiring in person or by telephone.
  • Assist with Ryan White certifications for clients and provide administrative support for ad hoc program needs. Essential Job Functions here
