Pharmacy Manager

Job Summary and Qualifications
  • Coordinate services of the inpatient pharmacy.
  • Make assignments within job description for specific staff classifications.
  • Monitor/manage drug and supply inventory.
  • Monitor/manage controlled substance inventory.
  • Monitor and document staff performance. Administer staff performance appraisals.
  • Participate in relevant Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) initiatives.
  • Implement departmental directives regarding policy, procedure, program and system additions or revisions.
  • Participate in interview process for potential new hires and convey recommendations to the Director of Pharmacy.
  • Represent Pharmacy on interdisciplinary committees.
  • Perform in a staff distributive and/or clinical role as required.
  • Communicates effectively with pharmacy staff, patients and all members of the healthcare team.
  • Directs and coordinates scheduling and payroll.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Required – Prior experience as a pharmacist. New graduates required to have gained pharmacy experience as an intern/extern
  • License in good standing as a Pharmacist in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • Preferred – Prior experience in hospital pharmacy and pharmacy management.

EDUCATION

  • Required – Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy, or Doctor of Pharmacy from an accredited school of pharmacy.
  • Preferred – Advanced degree in pharmacy management or administration.
