Job description

The Center for Children’s Healthy Lifestyles & Nutrition at Children’s Mercy Kansas City is recruiting a general pediatrician or internal medicine/pediatrics physician for a position focused on weight management and bariatric medicine. This position is primarily clinical but will include time for teaching, service, and quality improvement as appropriate.

The specific percentage of time dedicated to research, program development, advocacy, and teaching/supervision will be established based on the particular position and the candidate’s interests and goals. This position will be employed through Children’s Mercy Kansas City. Non-tenured academic rank through the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine and/or the University of Kansas Medical Center Department of Pediatrics will be commensurate with experience.

Applicants must have:

  • An MD or DO degree, or equivalent
  • Be board-certified or eligible
  • Preference will be given to individuals with demonstrated excellence in clinical care and education and demonstrated interest in obesity medicine.
  • Eligibility for licensure in Missouri and Kansas

The new faculty will join an interdisciplinary team of physicians, pediatric nurse practitioners, clinical psychologists, social workers, dietitians, nurses, and other personnel dedicated to improving the care of children with obesity.
