About this Job Division of Probation & Parole - Adult MINDEN DISTRICT Minden, Louisiana At the Louisiana Department of Corrections, our mission is to promote public safety and strengthen communities through fair, professional, and responsive corrections services. This position serves as an assistant to Probation and Parole Officer 1, 2, 3 and P&P Specialist (Agent). It may be utilized in all 21 district offices of the Division of Probation and Parole. Probation and Parole consists of 21 District Offices and three Regional Offices throughout the State of Louisiana and is responsible for the supervision of more than 57,000 offenders with 753 total authorized positions.

Minimum Qualifications Three years of experience in administrative services; OR Six years of full-time experience in any field; OR A bachelor's degree. EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION: Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties: Performs advanced administrative and technical functions related to the intake and onboarding of offenders entering probation or parole supervision. Coordinates and schedules intake appointments, confirms offender arrival and identification, and ensures all required forms, documents, and supporting materials are obtained prior to processing.

Conducts comprehensive examinations of legal documents, including court minutes, plea agreements, sentencing orders, judgments, warrants, bonds, and related filings, to determine accuracy and completeness. Interprets complex legal language and extracts essential case information for entry into multiple interconnected departmental and statewide information systems. Identifies discrepancies, omissions, or inconsistencies in documentation and initiates corrective action with courts, district attorneys, and law enforcement agencies.

Performs detailed criminal history research using state and national databases and conducts AFIS fingerprint processing. Provides offenders with clear procedural instruction, completes all intake documentation, prepares case files, purges closed files, and formally closes out offender cases in compliance with retention and policy standards. Researches all available resources when assisting P&P Agents conducting pre-sentence, post-sentence and pre-parole investigations.

Follow-up on victim information such as determining losses incurred as a result of the offense. Obtain victim's input as to subject's sentencing and/or release on parole. Investigates warrant cases by utilizing federal, state and local databases, coroner records, Bureau of Vital Statistics to determine location of absconders.

Serves as the primary public-facing representative of the District Office. Works directly with offenders to verify reporting status, provide guidance, answer questions, distribute forms, and ensure compliance with supervision requirements. Employee will work for: Probation & Parole Officers, Probation & Parole Specialist and Corrections Support Supervisors Position-Specific Details: Appointment Type: Promotion of a permanent, classified employee of LA DPS&C - CORRECTIONS SERVICES (Adult DOC) The selected employee may be required to serve a trial detail prior to being permanently promoted or may be required to accept a probational appointment.

Compensation: This position has a Special Entrance Rate (SER) of $17.34 per hour. Other Important Information: Any degree, certificate, special license, or DD-214 must be verified by official documentation prior to hire. Any qualifying experience that is based on college credit/college hours should have an accompanying transcript for verification
