Reports to-FSQA Manager for Food Safety Matters

PA Operations Manager for Administrative Purposes

Classification- Exempt

Position type- Full-Time: Monday-Friday and occasional weekends and holidays as needed

Job Purpose

The SQF Practitioner is responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Food Safety Management System, including obtaining and

maintaining related certifications. The SQF Practitioner leads the implementation and maintenance of the SQF System and ensures its integrity through validation and verification.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for establishing, implementing, and directing quality control and food safety efforts to ensure that requirements for processing components conform to quality standards
  • Communicate with other departments and trainers to develop and implement food safety programs as required
  • Train employees and maintain all training records according to food safety and quality requirements
  • Develop and initiate standards and methods for inspections, testing, and evaluation
  • Oversee SQF and HACCP systems for validation testing and assurance compliance
  • Perform and direct the environmental monitoring program
  • Document quality information and prepare reports/manuals
  • Review food safety, production, and quality reports and records at the designated frequencies
  • Complete CAPAs for food safety & quality complaints, CCP deviations, etc.
  • Complete monthly food safety document review, collection, uploading, and communication to production managers and leads
  • Work with existing and new suppliers on approved supplier management plan
  • Perform, document, and follow up on monthly food defense audits and ensure maintenance of the overall
  • Food Defense and Food Fraud programs.
  • Maintain traceability programs, including the coordination, scheduling, and leading Mock Recall Exercises as needed
  • Suggest and implement changes to increase food safety and efficiency of production
  • Develop and execute SQF plans to achieve/maintain SQF Certification
  • Manage and monitor labeling compliance including but not limited to nutritional fact panels, ingredient labels, and allergen declarations
  • Manages compliance with all Plant, State and Federal EPA, FDA, HACCP, and SQF regulations
  • Maintain food safety registrations as required by SQF
  • Oversee compliance and interactions with SQF Certification
  • Oversee all customer complaints and follow-up on corrective actions
  • Lead the yearly review of food safety system
  • Foster a continuous improvement mindset and pursue improvement opportunities that support the achievement of food safety and quality goals
  • This position may require travel up to 5-7 weeks per year based on business needs. Travel schedules will be communicated in advance whenever possible

Qualifications

Experience in supervisory and leadership roles preferred. HACCP and PCQI Certifications required.  Experience writing, implementing, and managing SQF programs within a food production environment.
