Job description

Volunteer Role: Event Accuracy & Platform Proofreader

Help us ensure that our ever-expanding list of event information is accurate and consistent across ALL our platforms.

Do you notice when a date is wrong? Do typos jump off the page at you?

Have you ever spotted a mistake on a website and immediately wanted to fix it?

If so, we may have the perfect volunteer role for you.

About Us

Our Safe Space is a small but mighty, 100% volunteer-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to creating welcoming, judgment-free spaces for personal growth, creativity, and connection. We host free workshops, book clubs, community events, and volunteer opportunities for a growing community of nearly 900 members.

Why This Role Matters

Every month, all of our event information appears in multiple places:

  • Meetup
  • Our website
  • Google Calendar
  • Internal tracking spreadsheets
  • Weekly newsletters

When even one date, time, location, or link is incorrect, it creates confusion for attendees and extra work for volunteers.

We're looking for a detail-oriented volunteer who enjoys checking information, spotting discrepancies, and helping us maintain accurate records.

What You'll Do

  • Compare event information across multiple platforms
  • Verify dates, times, locations, links, and descriptions
  • Identify inconsistencies and report corrections
  • Proofread event listings and newsletter event sections
  • Help maintain accurate event records and calendars
  • Communicate findings through a simple tracking spreadsheet

What We're Looking For

  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Strong proofreading skills
  • Comfortable using websites, spreadsheets, and Google Calendar
  • Ability to work independently
  • Reliable follow-through
  • Friendly communication style

Time Commitment

Approximately 1–3 hours per week, depending on the number of upcoming events.

Bonus Opportunity

Volunteers who enjoy this role and become familiar with our systems may have opportunities to take on additional event management responsibilities in the future.

Why You'll Love It

You'll play an important behind-the-scenes role in helping hundreds of people find the right event, at the right place, at the right time.

You'll be the person who catches the little things before they become big problems.
