Job description

RN - Labor & Delivery/Postpartum<. >

●        About Facility:

o   109 Licensed Beds

o   No Trauma Designation

o   Not a Teaching Hospital – no residents/students

o   Advanced Primary Stroke Center

o   Radius rule: Traveler’s permanent address must be 50 miles outside of home unit

●        Unit Information:

o   Beds:

▪          Average Census: 5

o   Minimum Years of Experience required? 2 years of LDRP exp

o   Will you accept a first-time traveler? Yes

●        Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:

o   Postpartum vaginal and cesarean deliveries; Newborn/couplet care

o   GYN surgical

●        Patient Ratios:

o   RN: 1:3-4 couplets

●        Required License, National Certification, Certs (BLS, ACLS, etc.), or other position specific requirements such as Driver's License and/or Insurance:

o   RN: BLS, ACLS, EFM, NRP – Resource Team requirement

●        Skills required:

o   RN: Experience with the above patients, fundal massage, experience with newborn care to include heel sticks, 24 hr testing, NAS scoring, lactation support

o   Must have the skillset to work LDRP

●        Support within the Department:

o   CNA – 1 per shift – Scrub responsibilities

o   Receptionist/HUC – patient registration, visitor mgmt. and unit secretary duties

o   Charge nurse

o   Phlebotomy, 24/7

o   IV/VAT Team – Dayshift/Weekends

o   Case Manager –  as needed

o   RT 24/7 – will perform Nebulizer treatments

o   Hospitalist, 24/7

o   OB Physicians –

o   Neonatologist – remote

●        Technology/Equipment:

o   EMR: EPIC

o   IV Pump: Alaris

o   Med dispensing: Omnicell

o   Monitors: Phillips

o   Rover Communication

o   GE Corometrics Fetal Monitors; GE Panda Warmer

o   Hugs infant security

●        Floating:

o   Within region and scope of practice

o   Will be required to float per region needs – will require floating to all facilities listed below, as needed, within scope of practice – DECLINE if not agreeable

o   Region 1 - Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, Central Division (CMC Main + Mercy + LCH (peds only) -- could float to any of the facilities within region if the need arises

o   If floating mid-shift, Traveler will be paid for the time traveling between facilities (will remain on the clock)

●        Orientation (facility and unit):

o   NEO

o   3 days departmental

●        Scheduling:

o   Weekend rotation: every other

o   No call

o   Holiday Expectations: Travelers will work 75% of holidays

o   RTO: Can approve up to 6 days off, excluding holidays – must add time to the end of the contract if unable to meet contracted hours

o   Schedule cycle: every 6 weeks

●        Other notes:

o   Scrub Color: Navy
