DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

The Family Birth Unit is on the second floor of the patient tower and includes:

  • One triage room
  • 5 spacious Labor and Delivery suites
  • Two with labor tubs
  • One OR
  • Newborn Nursery

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides safe, high quality, direct and indirect patient care utilizing the nursing process to care for mothers and their newborns.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with diverse population and possess personal sensitivity to the needs and experiences of others with a non-judgmental attitude.
  • Ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks and appropriately adapt to diverse and high-risk situations to offer the best possible care to patients.
  • Ability to manage time in an organized fashion, planning and prioritizing work under pressure.
Qualifications

EDUCATION/REQUIREMENTS

  • Current unencumbered RN license to practice in the State of Oregon
  • Healthcare Provider Level BLS
  • ACLS and NRP required within six months of hire
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in Labor, Delivery, Postpartum nursing
