Job Summary for RN - Labor & Delivery/Postpartum (LDRP), Matthews, NC
- Facility & Unit Details:
- Community hospital in Matthews, NC with 44 licensed beds
- LDRP unit with 8 beds; average census of 8
- Not trauma, chest pain, or stroke designated
- Non-teaching hospital (except for community schools of nursing)
- Must live 50+ miles from facility (traveler requirement)
- Experience & Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years recent RN experience in LDRP required
- Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NRP, EFM
- Must be skilled in all aspects of LDRP patient care, including circulating C-sections, newborn care (heel sticks, 24hr testing, NAS scoring), and lactation support
- Not accepting first-time travelers
- Patient Population:
- Labor, delivery, recovery, postpartum, and GYN surgical patients
- Patient Ratios:
- As per AWHONN guidelines
- Support Staff:
- CNA, receptionist/HUC, charge nurse, case manager, RT (24/7), hospitalist/OB physician (24/7), OB physicians (2 practices), pediatrician, lactation consultants
- Technology & Equipment:
- EMR: EPIC
- IV Pumps: Alaris
- Med Dispensing: Omnicell
- Monitors: Phillips & GE Corometrics Fetal Monitors; GE Panda Warmer
- Floating:
- Required within regional facilities as needed (Pineville, Anson, Union, Union West, Central Division)
- Paid for travel time if floating mid-shift
- Scheduling & Orientation:
- 7p-7a shifts, every other weekend rotation
- No call; must work 75% of holidays
- Up to 6 days RTO (excluding holidays; must extend contract if hours not met)
- 2 days departmental orientation, plus facility NEO
- Other Details:
- Navy blue scrubs or business casual to/from work; hospital-issued scrubs while working
- Free parking
Summary:
Provide comprehensive RN care for LDRP and GYN surgical patients, including labor, delivery, postpartum, newborn care, and support of C-section procedures. Requires strong clinical skills, relevant certifications, and willingness to float between regional units. Support available from multidisciplinary team and access to advanced equipment/technology. Evening/night shifts with weekend and holiday rotation.
