What does a Assistant Operator do?
As a Full-Time Assistant Operator at Barrett Petfood, your daily routine will be engaging and dynamic. You will start your shift at 4:00 AM, focusing on various tasks that contribute to our production line. Expect to operate machinery, monitor the production process for quality assurance, and assist with packaging and labeling products.
You will collaborate closely with team members, resolving issues that may arise to ensure smooth operations. Safety will be a top priority, and you will regularly adhere to established protocols to maintain a secure work environment. Your schedule will be Friday through Sunday, 4:00 AM to 4:00 PM, allowing for an intensive yet fulfilling three-day workweek.
Day to day responsibilities
  • Use the Mill computer to load formulas, input recipes, and verify blend sheets
  • Communicate with Bulk Material Handler when ingredients are needed
  • Communicate with the Setup Specialist on micro bin set up
  • Monitor overhead bins based on the schedule
  • Check and verify mill schedule and contact the Mill Supervisor or Mill Coordinator if issues arise
  • Track overhead level
  • Will be the designated person to contact Quality, Maintenance, Supervisor or Coordinator when issues occur.
  • Plan upcoming runs by looking ahead on the schedule so we have ingredients prepared
  • Assist with toting out, filling micro bins, material handling, and hand adds
  • Receive prior shift pass down and relay that information to current shift

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking through the factory.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds at times.
