Job description

Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A meaningful contract opportunity is available for a dedicated Registered Nurse interested in making an impact within a school setting. This role involves providing specialized 1:1 care to a high school male student who is a quadriplegic and utilizes a sip/puff wheelchair, trach, and ventilator. The position is part-time and located near Aurora, IL. Hours are from 7:00 AM to 2:30 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays, running from August 24, 2026, through May 28, 2027.

Key Qualifications:

  • Hold an active Illinois Registered Nurse license
  • Must have previous experience working in a school environment
  • Demonstrated competency with tracheostomy care, ventilator support, and urinary catheterization
  • Comfortable and physically able to provide lifting assistance as needed
  • Previous critical care nursing experience is strongly preferred
  • Only RNs will be considered (no LPNs)
  • Submission should include RN license/certification and updated resume

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver continuous, attentive 1:1 nursing care during all assigned hours in the school environment
  • Monitor trach and ventilator, ensuring immediate response to any needs or emergencies
  • Administer urinary catheterization safely, following all protocols
  • Support the student’s health and daily needs, facilitating participation in the high school experience
  • Communicate effectively with school staff, medical team, and student’s support network
