Job description
Division: Advancia Aeronautics
Location:San Diego, California
FLSA Classification: Exempt- Salary
Employment Class: Full Time- Regular
Position Summary
Advancia Aeronautics is committed to placing people first as we accelerate healthcare delivery and provide superior health readiness for military and federal communities across the globe. We are seeking a highly qualified Orthopedic Surgeon specializing in Foot and Ankle Surgery for a long-term contract supporting the Department of Defense (DoD) at Naval Medical Center San Diego (NMCSD) and its associated Naval Branch Health Clinics. As part of the Advancia Aeronautics team, the Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Surgeon will provide comprehensive surgical and non-surgical orthopedic care to active-duty military personnel, their dependents, retirees, eligible DoD civilian employees, and other authorized beneficiaries designated by the Government. The provider will support Navy Medicine's mission of ensuring medical readiness, optimizing patient outcomes, and delivering high-quality specialty care within a military healthcare environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Clinical and Patient Care Responsibilities.
• Evaluation and Diagnosis: Conduct thorough patient evaluations, including detailed medical histories, physical examinations, and the ordering and interpretation of diagnostic imaging such as X-rays, CT scans, and MRIs. This includes both outpatient and inpatient consultations.
• Non-Operative Management: Develop and oversee non-surgical treatment plans for a wide array of foot and ankle conditions. This includes prescribing medications, managing physical therapy referrals, and referring patients for orthotic devices.
• Pre- and Post-Operative Care: Manage all phases of surgical care, from initial pre-operative assessments and patient education to post-operative follow-up, wound care, and rehabilitation protocols.
• Patient Population: Treat a wide range of patients, from young, active-duty athletic personnel with sports-related injuries to older, retired veterans with degenerative conditions. The patient base also includes pediatric patients.

Special Considerations for a Military Environment.
• Operational Readiness: A key aspect of the role is to contribute to the operational readiness of active-duty service members by providing timely and effective care that enables them to return to their duties.
• Research: Opportunities for clinical and basic science research are available and encouraged within the department.
• CME: Contractors will be expected to maintain CME for the purpose of licensure and American Board of Orthopedic Surgery certification.
• Other duties as assigned.
