Job description

MQ Middleware Administrator

Location: 100% Remote - Continental US Preferred Time Zones: EST, CST, MTN

Rate Type: W2 ONLY

Compensation: Upto $75 per hr

Length: 1 to 3 years

We are looking for a hands-on MQ Middleware Administrator to work on a team responsible for designing, provisioning, and managing enterprise-level systems used by both internal and external customers. The ideal candidate will have a strong and proven track record of success in a similar role.

Responsibilities:
  • Serve as subject matter expert on IBM MQ/IIB/ACE/MQ MFT/MuleSoft, includes technical assistance to application developers on Middleware related problems
  • Understand technology vision and strategic direction of business needs
  • Production support 24/7 for a week, at least once a month
  • Assess and make recommendations of best-practice solutions and/or new middleware and web technologies that will enhance the capabilities of the existing infrastructure.
  • Participate product roadmaps in alignment with other middleware/cloud products and business roadmaps
  • Participate in designing integrated solutions with design patterns, blueprints, guidelines, and standard methodologies for products
  • Assist in developing architecture and design conceptual solutions by incorporating cloud native and 3rd party vendor products
  • Participate in research and perform POCs (proofs of concept) with emerging technologies and adopt industry best practices, in the middleware space, for cloud migration and hybrid solutions
  • Successfully troubleshoot production issues application developers can't resolve; may include writing build and deployment scripts
  • Demonstrate automation as Infrastructure as code (IaC) to increase build efficiency in the cloud
  • Support both rehydration and HA along with emerging processes and technologies
  • Assist the development of validation and certification processes through automation tools
  • Monitoring - monitor middleware performance and availability
  • Demonstrate collaboration on projects and initiatives as a team member
Qualifications:
  • Key Skill: MQ, EMSS, ESB
  • Demonstrates analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Subject matter expertise in IBM Middleware products like MQ/IIB/ACE/MQ MFT and MuleSoft
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or related field or equivalent work experience; advance degree preferred
  • 3+ years in design/support of MQ/IIB/ACE Middleware solutions
  • Experience in cloud specific solutions related to middleware
  • Hands on experience in one or more languages such as Java, Python, JavaScript
  • Experience with other AWS middleware solutions including various compute and storage offerings
  • Strong background in observability, networking, performance, and scalability.
  • Experience with leveraging CI/CD pipelines and GitLab is a plus
  • Hands on experience in Terraform, Python, Ansible and OS shell scripts including automation tools is a plus
  • Must be familiar with Agile methodologies and able to work in an Agile manner
  • Must have a very strong application development background
  • Microservices experience is a plus
  • Cloud Certification is a plus
  • Containerized platform experience is a plus
  • Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) experience is a plus
