Position Description

We are seeking a Middleware Engineer to support enterprise middleware platforms and web-based application environments. This role is responsible for maintaining and supporting Java runtime technologies, troubleshooting production issues, and ensuring the reliability of critical application infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a balanced background in both engineering and operational support, with the ability to handle a high volume of support requests, production incidents, and platform changes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support and maintain middleware platforms and enterprise web applications.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, incidents, and performance-related concerns.
  • Support Java runtime technologies including JVM, JDK, JRE, and Apache Tomcat environments.
  • Execute middleware-related changes, deployments, and maintenance activities.
  • Partner with application teams to support application hosting environments and resolve technical issues.
  • Participate in Tier 2/Tier 3 operational support and break-fix activities.
  • Support occasional after-hours maintenance, deployments, and production incidents.
  • Manage multiple concurrent tasks, support tickets, and operational requests while meeting service expectations.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience supporting middleware technologies in an enterprise environment.
  • Strong understanding of Java runtime environments, including JVM, JDK, and JRE.
  • Hands-on experience with Apache Tomcat or similar application server technologies.
  • Experience supporting web-based applications in production environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and root cause analysis skills.
  • Experience providing Tier 2/Tier 3 support.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong communication and customer support skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with IBM WebSphere.
  • Experience with IBM MQ / WebSphere MQ.
