Job description

Role Summary:

The P&C Insurance Project Manager will lead end-to-end delivery of technology programs within the Property & Casualty insurance domain. This is an on-site, client-facing role requiring strong insurance domain understanding, stakeholder management, delivery governance, and hands-on project control.

The role will involve managing initiatives across core insurance functions such as policy administration, claims, billing, underwriting, integrations, data migration, and digital transformation. The Project Manager will work closely with client business and IT stakeholders, system integrators, vendors, and offshore delivery teams to ensure timely, high-quality, and cost-effective execution.

Experience:

  • 12–15 years of overall IT experience.
  • 5+ years of experience managing projects/programs within the Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance domain.
  • Proven experience delivering insurance technology implementation, modernization, enhancement, or transformation programs.

Key Responsibilities:

Delivery & Program Management:

  • Own end-to-end delivery of P&C insurance technology projects, including scope, schedule, budget, resources, risks, and quality.
  • Manage large-scale insurance implementations, platform modernization, upgrades, enhancements, and transformation initiatives.
  • Drive project planning, sprint execution, milestone tracking, dependency management, and release management.
  • Establish and maintain project governance, delivery metrics, RAID logs, and executive reporting.
  • Ensure adherence to agreed SDLC, Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, or hybrid delivery methodologies.
  • Coordinate business, functional, technical, testing, data, integration, and infrastructure workstreams to ensure integrated delivery.

P&C Insurance Domain Management:

  • Work closely with business stakeholders across key P&C insurance functions such as:
    • Policy administration
    • Underwriting
    • New business and renewals
    • Claims management
    • Billing and payments
    • Product and rating
    • Agent/broker distribution
  • Understand business processes and translate business priorities into executable project and release plans.
  • Manage dependencies between core insurance applications, surrounding systems, third-party platforms, and downstream/upstream integrations.
  • Support business and technology teams during insurance platform modernization and transformation initiatives.

Stakeholder & Client Management:

  • Act as the primary on-site point of contact for client business, IT, and leadership stakeholders.
  • Build strong working relationships with business sponsors, product owners, technology leadership, and delivery teams.
  • Facilitate steering committee meetings, project status reviews, governance meetings, and executive reporting.
  • Communicate project progress, risks, dependencies, decisions, and corrective actions clearly to stakeholders.
  • Proactively manage stakeholder expectations and project escalations.

Team & Vendor Coordination:

  • Lead and coordinate cross-functional teams including business analysts, developers, architects, integration teams, data teams, QA, DevOps, and infrastructure teams.
  • Manage offshore and near-shore delivery teams and ensure alignment with on-site client priorities.
  • Coordinate with third-party vendors, system integrators, SaaS/platform providers, and other technology partners.
  • Ensure clear ownership, accountability, and coordination across multiple workstreams and vendors.

Risk, Quality & Compliance:

  • Identify delivery risks, issues, assumptions, and dependencies early and drive appropriate mitigation and resolution plans.
  • Drive quality assurance, defect management, testing governance, and UAT readiness and sign-off.
  • Ensure delivery aligns with applicable insurance business controls, security requirements, regulatory expectations, and organizational standards.
  • Monitor production readiness and ensure appropriate cutover, deployment, rollback, and post-production support plans are in place.

Financial & Commercial Management:

  • Track project financials including budget, actuals, burn rate, resource utilization, and forecasts.
  • Manage project scope and support change request assessment and approval processes.
  • Support commercial discussions related to project scope, effort, timelines, resource requirements, and delivery commitments.
  • Monitor vendor deliverables and contractual commitments where applicable.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

P&C Insurance Domain

  • Strong understanding of the Property & Casualty insurance domain.
  • Good understanding of the P&C insurance lifecycle, including policy administration, underwriting, billing, claims, and renewals.
  • Experience managing insurance technology implementation, modernization, enhancement, or transformation programs.
  • Understanding of core insurance platform ecosystems and their integration with surrounding enterprise applications.
  • Experience with integrations, data migration, conversion, and enterprise system dependencies within insurance programs.

 

Project & Leadership Skills:

  • Strong experience in end-to-end project and program management.
  • Proven experience managing Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, and/or hybrid delivery models.
  • Strong planning, estimation, resource management, dependency management, and execution capabilities.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage senior client stakeholders and executive-level governance.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing multi-vendor, cross-functional, and geographically distributed teams.
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and escalation management capabilities.

 

Tools & Methodologies:

  • Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, MS Project, or similar project management and delivery tools.
  • Understanding of DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, release management, and modern software delivery practices.
  • Experience working with Agile delivery metrics, dashboards, RAID management, and project governance frameworks.

 

Preferred / Good-to-Have Qualifications:

  • Experience with Guidewire InsuranceSuite, including PolicyCenter, BillingCenter, and/or ClaimCenter, is a good to have.
  • Exposure to other P&C core insurance platforms or insurance technology products is desirable.
  • PMP, PRINCE2, SAFe, Scrum, or other relevant project management/Agile certifications.
  • Prior on-site client-facing experience in large insurance transformation programs.
  • Experience working with Tier-1 insurers, global insurance organizations, or large system integration programs.
  • Experience managing cloud-based insurance modernization or transformation initiatives.
