Sompo has a unique opportunity for an IT QA Manager in our Information Technology Department.
Location: This position will be based out of our Lenexa, KS office, Topeka, KS and Lubbock, TX office with a hybrid schedule (3 days in office; 2 days at home). We strive for collaboration, which is why we offer a work environment where our employees thrive and develop long-lasting careers.

What you'll be doing:
  • Work with different IT teams to assess the performance and quality, both actual and perceived, of software products against specified exit criteria and standards.
  • Manage and organize the QA team to work closely alongside business analysts and developers throughout the software development lifecycle, ensuring requirements are clearly understood, testing is effectively planned and executed, and quality standards are consistently met.
  • Coordinate QA resources, assign priorities, and provide guidance to team members to support project goals and delivery timelines.
  • Design and execute test scenarios, requirements traceability matrices, and test cases; develop and document application test plans based on software requirements and technical specifications.
  • Write, maintain, and/or automate software testing.
  • Identify, analyze, and document defects, programming errors, and operational characteristics that are inconsistent with stated requirements and design specifications.
  • Record and document results of test execution, including distribution of defect tracking reports.
  • Ensure compliance with general quality assurance best practices, accepted industry standards, and standards set forth by upstream sources.
  • Operate and maintain test environments and test data.
  • Perform impact analysis and risk assessment.
  • Track quality assurance metrics such as defect densities and open defect counts.
  • Suggest and implement improvements in test planning and execution.

What you'll bring:
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook.
  • Experience using defect tracking systems.
  • Experience with commonly used Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience testing various software applications across different platforms.
  • Experience in environment management.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of software programming languages and databases.
