WTVQ ABC 36 News is seeking a dynamic, experienced Weekend Anchor/MMJ to join our team in Lexington, Kentucky. We are committed to providing high-quality local news coverage and are looking for a driven, creative, and versatile journalist who can excel both behind the desk and in the field.
Job Responsibilities:
• Anchor newscasts with professionalism, credibility, and energy.
• Act as a newsroom leader, helping to shape the vision and direction of newscasts.
• Develop and produce engaging, accurate, and timely newscasts.
• Generate story ideas and develop sources to create compelling, local content.
• Shoot, write, and edit news stories as a Multimedia Journalist (MMJ).
• Maintain excellent news judgment and editorial decision-making.
• Collaborate with producers, reporters, and photographers to ensure seamless, high-quality broadcasts.
• Engage with viewers through social media and other platforms to enhance audience experience and coverage.
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as an Anchor, MMJ, or Reporter preferred.
• Ability to produce newscasts and generate creative content under tight deadlines.
• Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
• Proficiency in shooting and editing video.
• Excellent news judgment and leadership abilities.
• Comfortable with live reporting and breaking news coverage.
• Familiarity with newsroom software and editing tools.
Additional Skills:
• Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and work independently.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Knowledge of AP style and adherence to journalistic standards.
