Job Description:
LSU Rural Life Museum is seeking enthusiastic, dependable, and customer-focused individuals to serve as a part-time Visitor Services Assistant Manager. The position plays a key role in supporting the administration and daily operations of museum and after-hours events like Louisiana Lights. Responsibilities include assisting with the hiring process by interviewing, training, scheduling, and supervising student employees; managing ticketing and guest check-in operations; helping visitors navigate the museum grounds; and providing excellent customer service. This position requires addressing and resolving guest concerns in a professional manner, including handling difficult customer situations when they arise. This position will also serve as the Manager on Duty on weekends and during special events to ensure smooth event operations and staff coordination. Additional responsibilities include assisting with event setup, supporting operational needs as they arise, and performing other duties as assigned to help create a safe, enjoyable, and memorable experience for all guests.
Job Responsibilities
Supports Museum projects and initiatives of a complex nature through independent work and research in areas of collections care, interpretive research, public and educational programming, and similar museum-related fields. Projects are often done with minimal regular contact and are generally ongoing in nature. Plays a key role in supporting the administration and daily operations of museum and after-hours events like Louisiana Lights. (45%)
Serves as Team Lead-on-Duty, supervising museum operations on weekends, certain holidays, vacations, and rentals. Opens and closes museum and grounds. Oversees the opening and closing of the gift shop and cash register. Serves as team leader for staff, greeting tourists and other visitors to the LSU Rural Life Museum and Windrush Gardens. Also provides direction to weekend maintenance staff. Ensures clean and stocked restrooms and other areas of museum when needed by department. Reconciles end-of-day revenues that are collected daily from admissions, gift shop sales, special events, and rentals. Assists with museum rentals. Answers inquiries concerning price, policies, and availability. (40%)
Supports Visitor Services staff with annual inventory, docent scheduling, and other duties as needed. Schedules photo appointments and may support the scheduling of tours and rentals. (10%)
Assists with museum projects and public events. Other duties as assigned. (5%)
Additional Requirements
Operation Essential Personnel - This position may be asked to work during an official closure, but is otherwise not required to report to the physical campus during a closure, and whose absence does not present a risk to the safety, resources, and well-being of the campus per FASOP HR-01.
This position has access to/directly handles cash. Financial history/credit check required per FASOP HR-04.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and 6 months of experience
