The Winsor School is an independent day school for academically promising and motivated girls in grades five through twelve. Our diverse, vibrant community values intellectual curiosity, authentic engagement, and personal integrity and prepares young women to pursue their aspirations and contribute to the world. Winsor strives to create an environment of respect and inclusion. 

 

The School seeks a part-time pre-professional librarian,  i.e., someone who plans to earn their Master’s in Library Science. The successful candidate will demonstrate patience, flexibility, and dependability, as well as have strong multi-tasking and self-starter skills. The candidate should be comfortable working in a bustling library environment. Experience working with 5th-12th graders, experience in libraries, or interest in librarianship as a career is highly desirable. 

 

This is a 10-month position for 19 hours per week. It will begin in late August 2026.

This position’s duties include:

  • operating the circulation desk,

  • supervising students in the library and enforcing library policies, as well as providing library coverage when the librarians are not on site,

  • creating visually appealing library bulletin boards and book displays,

  • managing the library’s social media,

  • processing new books and repairing book damages,

  • collection maintenance, including weeding out-of-date library materials, inventory, and shelving books,

  • performing other library-related duties as assigned by the director.

 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree,

  • demonstrated commitment to community and inclusion work,

  • demonstrated interest in pursuing a Master’s in Library Science,

  • computer skills, including proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Office.

  • excellent oral and written communication skills,

  • the ability to work collaboratively,

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending, and reaching, as well as carrying and occasionally lifting up to 30 lbs.
     

Salary range: $22-$27 per hour
