Job description

Duties: The Library Assistant I (Youth Services) provides  assistance at children's and teen reference desks throughout the Library, answering questions in person, online and by telephone. Provides reader's advisory to library customers. Assists library customers with use of on-line catalogs, databases and computers. Assists in promoting Youth Services collections through designing and constructing displays, signage and bookmarks. May present and/or assist with children's programming and outreach services. May assist with collection development, weeding projects and other collection maintenance projects. Assists in maintaining public service areas and library equipment/facilities.

Qualifications: High School diploma or GED required. PREFERRED: An Associates Degree or some college desirable; Some experience working in a library or similar setting desirable. A desire to work with public and excellent customer service skills a plus Bilingual in Spanish and English and trained in American Red Cross First Aid desirable.
