Salary Information

Compensation plans are based on a multi-step progression system. The pay range reflects the entry level and maximum salary potential in the assigned pay grade. \r\n**A starting salary may be negotiated and will be commensurate with education, training and experience in alignment with pay administration policies and Montgomery Personnel Board Rules & Regulations** \r\n

Nature of Work

The fundamental reason this classification\r\nexists is to provide clerical and paraprofessional support to librarians. Major work responsibilities include:\r\nperforming circulation duties; serving patrons and the public; performing\r\ncollection maintenance activities; and performing miscellaneous duties. Library Assistant Is differ from Library\r\nAssistant IIs in that IIs are expected to act in the place of absent staff,\r\nincluding librarians, in various branches throughout the library system. Library Assistant Is are typically assigned\r\nto one branch and/or department at a time and work under the direct supervision\r\nof a librarian. Library Assistant Is\r\nreport directly to a librarian\r\n

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED and six (6) months library page\r\nexperience shelving books in a library branch.\r\n\r\n\r\nNote: Qualifying education, training and\r\nexperience that provide the requisite knowledge, skills,\r\nand\r\nabilities to perform the job will be considered.\r\n\r\n
