Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) – Travel Contract in Tacoma, Washington’s Welcoming 98405 Area

Bring your Labor & Delivery RN expertise to a high-acuity birth center in Tacoma, Washington. Located in Tacoma’s welcoming 98405 area, this Pacific Northwest setting offers a vibrant community atmosphere with easy access to waterfront views, local dining, and a strong neighborhood feel. This travel nursing job offers the opportunity to support a collaborative maternal care team while providing compassionate care to laboring, antepartum, and postpartum patients in a fast-paced obstetrics setting.

Overview

This 16-week travel contract is ideal for an experienced Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse who thrives in a high-energy maternity unit. The position includes 12-hour night shifts, a guaranteed 36 hours per week, and the chance to work with complex obstetric cases including triage, labor management, deliveries, and postpartum transition care.

Job Requirements
  • Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery nursing experience required
  • Previous travel nursing experience preferred
  • Experience caring for high-acuity OB patients in a maternal-newborn setting
  • Ability to triage obstetric patients and support labor management
  • Comfort circulating in the OR and assisting with C-sections
  • Skilled in cervical checks and interpreting fetal monitoring strips
  • Ability to provide support with normal newborn recovery as needed
  • Current BLS certification
  • Current NRP certification
  • Intermediate Fetal Heart Monitoring certification through AWHONN
  • EPIC experience required
  • Active Registered Nurse license in good standing
Responsibilities
  • Provide safe, patient-centered care for laboring, antepartum, and postpartum patients
  • Support high-acuity obstetric cases including hypertension, magnesium therapy, inductions, preterm labor, PROM, hemorrhage, and multiple births
  • Assist with vaginal deliveries and C-sections in a fast-paced Labor & Delivery unit
  • Monitor fetal status and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition
  • Coordinate care during transition of mother and baby following birth
  • Collaborate with charge nurses, physicians, anesthesia, respiratory therapy, and support staff
  • Float within scope to antepartum or postpartum units as needed
  • Follow unit protocols, documentation standards, and best practices for maternal-newborn care
  • Contribute to a positive, team-oriented culture focused on excellent patient outcomes
