What Are Weekend General Labor Jobs?

General weekend labor jobs are for employees who want to work part-time on the weekend or who have other employment during the week. These opportunities exist in a few different areas, and your duties depend on the industry in which you work. Some weekend cleaning jobs involve deep cleaning of facilities on Saturday and Sunday. Other maintenance and repair jobs include making repairs or performing maintenance outside of operational hours. Some construction projects involve weekend operations. In these jobs, you build structures or assemble and move equipment.

What are weekend labor jobs?

Weekend labor jobs involve performing manual or physical work specifically during the weekends. These roles can include tasks such as warehouse work, event setup, landscaping, cleaning, or light construction. They are ideal for individuals seeking extra income or flexible hours outside of their regular weekday commitments. Weekend laborers are often hired by companies or staffing agencies to meet increased demand or to assist with special projects that occur on Saturdays and Sundays.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Weekend Laborer, and why are they important?

To excel as a Weekend Laborer, you generally need physical stamina, reliability, and a willingness to perform manual tasks, often with a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with hand tools, power equipment, and basic safety procedures is commonly required, and some roles may require certifications like OSHA training. Strong teamwork, punctuality, and a positive work ethic are valuable soft skills that set candidates apart. These abilities are crucial for maintaining productivity, safety, and smooth operations during high-demand weekend shifts.

What are some common challenges faced by Weekend Labor workers, and how can they be addressed?

Weekend Labor workers often face challenges such as adjusting to irregular work hours, balancing personal commitments, and adapting to physically demanding tasks. To address these issues, it's important to maintain a consistent sleep schedule, communicate availability with supervisors, and use proper safety techniques when handling equipment or lifting. Building strong teamwork and keeping open lines of communication with coworkers can also help manage workload and ensure a smoother work experience.

Job description

Description:

About the Role

People Results is seeking an experienced Labor Consultant to serve as a trusted advisor to organizations navigating complex labor and employee relations challenges. This role is designed for professionals who bring credibility, sound judgment, and a consultative mindsetโ€”those who enjoy partnering with leaders, influencing outcomes, and delivering thoughtful, strategic solutions.

Reporting to the Managing Director and/or Labor Project Lead, the Labor Consultant works closely with fellow consultants and client leadership teams to diagnose issues, design tailored strategies, and support execution during critical moments. While the role offers the flexibility of a fully remote structure, frequent domestic travel is required to support on-site client engagements. Work schedules vary based on client needs and may include evenings or weekends.

Purpose of the Position

The primary purpose of the Labor Consultant is to deliver high-quality, customized consulting services that help clients achieve desired labor and organizational outcomes. Consultants partner with team members and clients to assess risks, clarify options, and implement solutions across labor and employee relations, including card mitigation, NLRB election campaigns, training, coaching, and communications.

Consultants are expected to understand the full suite of People Results services and collaborate across labor, leadership development (OD), and communications to deliver integrated, long-term solutions rather than one-size-fits-all approaches.

Requirements:

Key Responsibilities

Client Partnership & Advisory Support

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, providing strategic guidance grounded in experience and best practices
  • Partner with consultant teams and clients to understand organizational dynamics, risks, and objectives
  • Develop tailored labor and employee relations strategies aligned with client goals
  • Support clients through both planning and execution, adapting approaches as conditions evolve

Analysis, Insight & Recommendation

  • Conduct organizational assessments, stakeholder interviews, and data reviews
  • Apply critical thinking to qualitative and quantitative information to identify trends, risks, and opportunities
  • Translate complex information into clear, actionable recommendations for clients
  • Prepare professional reports and briefings that support informed decision-making

Communication, Training & Facilitation

  • Design and deliver customized training and education programs for leaders and employees
  • Facilitate discussions and working sessions with groups at all organizational levels
  • Present insights and recommendations to executives, senior leadership teams, and boards
  • Communicate with confidence, clarity, and credibility in high-stakes environments

Project Leadership & Collaboration

  • Coordinate with other People Results consultants to ensure consistent, high-quality client experiences
  • Mentor and support other consultants by sharing expertise and best practices

Who Thrives in This Role

This role is ideal for experienced labor relations professionals who see themselves not just as subject-matter experts, but as trusted advisors and strategic partners. Successful Labor Consultants at People Results tend to:

  • Enjoy partnering closely with senior leaders to navigate complex, high-stakes labor and employee relations challenges
  • Bring a calm, confident presence to sensitive or rapidly changing situations
  • Take pride in tailoring solutions rather than relying on standard approaches
  • Balance strategic thinking with practical execution and remain engaged through implementation
  • Value long-term client relationships and professional credibility over transactional consulting
  • Are comfortable influencing without authority and challenging assumptions thoughtfully
  • Thrive in roles offering autonomy, variety, flexibility, and responsibility rather than rigid schedules
  • Enjoy traveling to client sites and working directly with leadership teams and frontline stakeholders
  • Are self-directed, organized, and effective in a remote, virtual consulting environment
  • Find fulfillment in mentoring others and contributing to a collaborative consulting culture

This position is especially well-suited for professionals who want to leverage deep experience, continue doing meaningful work, and maintain flexibility without sacrificing impact.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • May provide direction, coaching, and oversight to consultants assigned to project teams
  • Supports the development of adjunct and mid-level consultants through feedback and knowledge sharing
  • May manage consulting engagements, including scope, timelines, budgets, and deliverables

Education & Experience

  • Bachelorโ€™s or Masterโ€™s degree required (Labor, Human Resources, Communications, Leadership Development, or related field)
  • Minimum of 10 years of successful experience in labor and employee relations, including NLRB election campaigns and/or labor contract negotiations
  • Proven experience advising leaders on strategy and supporting execution in complex environments
  • Strong executive presence and business acumen
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

Skills & Capabilities

  • Consultative mindset with a focus on partnership and outcomes
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and judgment skills
  • Ability to build trust and credibility quickly with senior leaders
  • Comfort managing multiple, concurrent client engagements
  • Adaptability and agility in high-pressure, dynamic environments
  • Spanish-speaking a plus

Technology & Tools

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and Teams
  • Experience with virtual collaboration platforms such as Teams and Zoom
  • Familiarity with secure document-sharing tools (e.g., ShareFile)
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to evolving technologies

Additional Requirements

  • Strict adherence to confidentiality and professional ethics
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a virtual consulting environment
  • Willingness to travel frequently to client sites nationwide
  • Ability to maintain a professional, distraction-free remote work environment

Work Environment

This role is performed remotely and at client locations across the U.S. Travel by air and ground transportation is required. Reasonable accommodations may be provided to support individuals with disabilities in performing essential job functions.
