Weekend Shift Sanitation Technician

Ottawa, IL 61350

Pay Rate: $17.50 / hour

Days: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday

Hours: 6 am – 6 pm
Job Description
Title: Sanitation Technician Job Summary: The Sanitor position is responsible for effectively cleaning and sanitizing all processing and packaging equipment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This will ensure that all manufactured personal care products are free of microbes and of the highest quality for consumers. Duties / Responsibilities:
  1. Cleaning and sanitizing all equipment while following safety regulations.
  2. Clean and sanitize batching and holding tanks according to company SOP
  3. Some light mechanical duties will be necessary to open equipment for thorough cleaning such as pumps or production equipment
  4. Work with hot water and strong cleaning agents
  5. Sweep, scrub and mop floors
  6. Take direction - communicate with others
Preferred Skills/Abilities:
  1. Industry specific work experience
  2. Able to work weekends and holidays when necessary
  3. Able to climb, bend, reach, stoop, kneel and stretch for extended periods
  4. Able to work at heights using ladders or lifts
  5. Able to work in an environment that has extreme temperatures and humidity as well as wet and slippery surfaces
  6. Experience and knowledge in food/cosmetic sanitation requirements
  7. An understanding of pathogens and other microbial contaminants
  8. An understanding of sanitation chemicals and physical cleaning
  9. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to think critically
  10. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  11. Self-directed with the ability to work independently as well as in a group
  12. Able to read and understand chemical labels and SDS information
  13. Possess basic math skills
Education: Minimum: High school Diploma or Equivalent. Preferred: Industry specific experience Physical Requirements:
  1. Must be able to stand/walk up to 12 hours per shift
  2. Must be able to lift 50 pounds
