Job description

The Job Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) is seeking a Hospital Chaplain* to provide spiritual counseling and guidance to patients, families, and hospital staff. The chaplain delivers interfaith, culturally responsive spiritual and emotional support, responds to crisis situations, participates in interdisciplinary collaboration. Duties include, but are not limited to the following: Provide compassionate, patient-centered spiritual care to individuals of diverse faith traditions and belief systems.

Leads worship services on units as requested. Evaluates patient needs for spiritual guidance and counseling and initiates or recommends individual programs and services to meet those needs. Meets with patients, employees upon request, for private counseling.

Arranges for group counseling, prayer meetings and discussions. Enhances professional growth and development through participation in education programs, current literature, in-service meetings and discussions. Responds to urgent referrals and crisis intervention services to patients, families and staff.

Collaborate with physicians, nurses, social workers, case managers, and other interdisciplinary team members. *Office Title: Public Service Employee Public Service Employees are extra help, non-regular, limited duration positions classified as a Public Service Employee (PSE). The successful candidate shall be considered at-will throughout the term of their employment, and will not attain regular status.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Availability: Must be available to work varied schedules, including days, evenings, weekends and holidays. Must be willing to be on-call. Positions are part-time (0-30 hours/week).

Assignments and schedules are made based on the needs of the Arrowhead Regional Medical Center. Indicate your preferred availability on the supplemental questionnaire of the application. Public Service Employee: These are extra help, non-regular positions classified as a Public Service Employee (PSE).

The successful candidate shall be considered at-will throughout the term of their employment, and will not attain regular status. This position will participate in the County's Deferred Compensation Plan and is not eligible for benefits through San Bernardino County. Pre-Employment Process: Prior to appointment, applicants must undergo a background investigation, which includes fingerprinting and a pre-employment physical.

Minimum Requirements Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Pastoral Care, Divinity, Theology, or closely related field.

Substitution: Additional ministerial or pastoral counseling experience may substitute for education requirement on a year for year basis. Ministerial Standing: Ordained, licensed, commissioned, or otherwise formally recognized in good standing by a religious organization or faith community OR Endorsed by a recognized faith organization or spiritual care organization to provide ministry in institutional settings.
