Risk Management Consultant (RN)
Location: Florida – Multi-Facility Coverage (Central Florida: Tampa, Pinellas, through Naples)
Schedule: Full-time, Exempt
Travel: Minimum 3 days per week; up to 80% travel with flexibility for weekends, holidays, and off-hours as needed

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Risk Management Consultant to provide oversight, guidance, and hands-on support to skilled nursing facilities across Florida. This role is ideal for a strong RN leader who understands regulatory risk, medical records, investigations, and litigation exposure, and who is comfortable working directly with facility leadership to drive compliance, consistency, and quality improvement.

This position plays a critical role in reducing organizational risk, strengthening documentation practices, supporting survey readiness, and partnering with legal counsel on chart reviews and claims.

Key Responsibilities
• Lead and oversee facility-wide Risk Management and Quality Assurance programs
• Conduct investigations related to adverse events, grievances, abuse allegations, falls, elopements, and other high-risk incidents
• Review, analyze, and trend incident reports to identify risk patterns and develop corrective actions
• Provide oversight and standardization of Medical Records practices across assigned facilities
• Conduct routine and targeted medical record audits and develop corrective action plans
• Coordinate legal chart reviews related to litigation, subpoenas, complaints, and claims
• Track and trend litigation activity and documentation-related risk exposure
• Partner with legal counsel, Administrators, DONs, and regional leaders to communicate findings and expectations
• Support facilities during state and federal surveys and ensure survey readiness
• Develop and deliver regulatory education, training, and compliance resources
• Participate in QAPI activities, regulatory rounds, and performance improvement initiatives
• Ensure HIPAA compliance, privacy safeguards, and proper release-of-information practices
• Serve as a compliance partner and change agent to facility leadership

Qualifications
• Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse license in Florida

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nursing required

  • Certified Risk Manager (CRM) or equivalent healthcare risk management experience

  • Required: Skilled Nursing experience with a strong focus on regulatory compliance and risk management

  • Experience in long-term care, post-acute, or assisted living settings

  • Strong knowledge of CMS regulations, Florida Administrative Code, HIPAA, and survey processes

  • Demonstrated experience with investigations, documentation audits, and legal chart reviews

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating across multiple facilities and departments

  • Comfortable with frequent travel and on-site facility support
