Job description

We are seeking an experienced Aerospace Freight Forwarding Agent to serve as the primary liaison between assigned customers and internal operations teams. This role focuses on supporting aviation companies and airline vendors by managing time-critical import and export shipments from initiation through final delivery.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in aerospace freight forwarding, understands the urgency of Aircraft on Ground (AOG) shipments, and thrives in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment. This position works closely with Air, Ocean, and Warehouse Operations to ensure seamless shipment execution.

Schedule: Monday through Friday, with rotating weekend and occasional night shift coverage based on operational needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day aerospace import and export freight forwarding activities.
  • Gather and verify shipment information, including weight, dimensions, commodity, origin, destination, and hazardous versus general cargo classifications.
  • Provide prompt responses to customer requests and maintain proactive communication throughout the shipment lifecycle.
  • Coordinate and manage time-critical Aircraft on Ground (AOG) shipments to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Ensure aircraft components—including engines, APUs, thrust reversers, inlet cowls, and engine stands—are properly secured, documented, and transported.
  • Create shipment files and coordinate bookings with internal operational departments.
  • Obtain competitive freight rates while maintaining profitability.
  • Prepare shipping documentation in accordance with airline, carrier, customs, and destination requirements.
  • Offer cargo insurance and coordinate pickup and delivery services.
  • Arrange specialized logistics solutions for urgent or high-priority shipments.
  • Communicate effectively with warehouses, transportation partners, overseas agents, and customers to ensure smooth operations.
  • Send shipment pre-alerts and status updates.
  • Monitor shipments through final delivery and proactively resolve any transportation issues.
  • Complete billing within five days of shipment departure and ensure files are properly closed.
  • Verify customer credit applications and Powers of Attorney (POAs) are complete and on file.
  • Provide customers with accurate freight rates and cargo handling costs.
  • Build strong relationships through professional, responsive customer service.
  • Assist warehouse operations with third-party logistics (3PL) services when required.
  • Update shipment information within the company's tracking system.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of freight forwarding experience (import/export required; aerospace experience strongly preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of domestic and international transportation, including air, ocean, and ground freight.
  • Experience handling Aircraft on Ground (AOG) and other time-sensitive shipments.
  • Familiarity with dangerous goods regulations and packaging requirements.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple shipments in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy.
  • Strong customer service, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Effective problem-solving abilities and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Spanish language skills are preferred.

Benefits

  • 100% employer-paid medical, dental, and vision coverage for employees.
  • 401(k) retirement plan.
  • Generous paid time off.
  • Collaborative team environment.
  • Opportunity to work within a dynamic international logistics organization focused on employee development and long-term growth.
