Job description

Handyman + Event Setup Specialist
Location: Lakewood, CO
Salary: $25.94 per hour
This role ensures RMCAD maintains a polished, functional, and event-ready campus. The position supports general maintenance, high-quality finishes, and campus-wide event execution critical to student and community experience.
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform general maintenance and minor repairs across campus
  • Execute interior/exterior painting including detailed finish work
  • Support event setup/teardown (galleries, exhibitions, student showcases)
  • Maintain presentation standards in public-facing and academic spaces
  • Conduct routine inspections for cosmetic and minor facility issues
  • Support Team Leads to address reactive issues upon occurence
Minimum Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in general maintenance, painting, or facilities support
  • Experience with commercial painting techniques and finishes
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and perform physical work
  • Valid driver’s license Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting events, galleries, or higher education environments
  • Basic knowledge of carpentry, electrical, or plumbing systems
On-Call Requirements
Participation in rotating/tiered on-call schedule
Availability for evening/weekend events and emergency response as needed
Working Conditions
This position regularly requires physical activity including standing, walking, climbing ladders, bending, kneeling, and lifting/moving materials or equipment up to 70-100 pounds. Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor campus environments and may involve exposure to varying temperatures, dust, paint fumes, noise, and general maintenance-related conditions. The role requires flexibility to support campus events, exhibitions, and operational needs, including occasional evening and weekend hours. Participation in a rotating on-call schedule is required to support emergency response and urgent facility-related issues as needed.
