Job description

Department Overview

As a Clinical Research Assistant, this individual is responsible for clinical, administrative, regulatory and educational research activities related to the management of patients on clinical trials. This position will be the primary coordinator responsible for recruitment, phone screening, scheduling of research patients as well as social networking, advertising and community outreach for the MFMRU. The appointee shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the university's missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service. Position is Monday - Friday with occasional weekend event/outreach coverage. Position may require travel to off-site partnership locations around the state of Oregon.

Function/Duties of Position

Recruitment

  • Communicates and strategizes with PIs, study sponsor and recruitment companies to streamline, strategize and enhance recruitment efforts
  • Reviews schedule to pre-screen potential participants in EPIC as allowed by IRB approved study protocols
  • Tracks and reports on recruitment campaigns
  • Recruitment and scheduling coordination (in English and Spanish):
    • Assist primary coordinators with screening, recruiting and scheduling new subjects
    • Assist primary coordinators with outreach and development of recruitment materials

Clinical Trials Management. 

  • Management of women's health clinical research trials at OHSU and other affiliated hospitals including maintenance and submission of patient data, analysis and evaluation of protocol activities, maintenance and preparation for quality assurance audits and management of investigational drugs.
  • Provide back-up research coordination assistance to primary study coordinators as needed

Patient Contact. 

  • Responsible for patient interactions as outlined in protocol and as delegated by Principal Investigator.
  • May be asked to perform participant interviews and to assist with obtaining consent.

Regulatory Compliance & Administrative.

  • Maintenance and submission of patient data and preparation for quality assurance audits and monitoring.
  • Data management on assigned studies.
  • Must be able to do data entry for extended periods of time.
  • eIRB and OnCore submissions. 

Outreach.

  • Assist MFMRU in supporting goal of improving and increasing participant diversity in our studies
  • Assist primary coordinators with coordination of promotional activities and advertising at OHSU and within the Portland metro community
  • Maintain public communications, social networking sites, submitting blog and newsletter content, and other marketing or advertising outreach efforts as assigned and supervised by unit manager. 
Required Qualifications
  • B.A. or B.S. with major courses in field of research
  • Appreciating and cultivating a diverse study population. Excellent eye to detail and organization skills. Self starter.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Clinical Trials experience strongly preferred.
  • Women's Health specific experience is preferred.  1-2 years research experience preferred.
  • Previous work with physicians in an academic environment. Epic, Outlook, eIRB, OHSU systems.
  • Spanish
Additional Details

Weekday position that may include occasional weekend event/outreach coverage. Position may require travel to off-site partnership locations around the state of Oregon. Reliable transportation and flexible schedule is essential.  May be required to work evenings or weekends to cover outreach events or call coverage on or off campus. Appointee may be in contact with human tissues & fluids and will be responsible for fluid and tissue collection as related to study protocol. Training will be provided for proper handling, processes, and procedures.

On-site work is required. Hybrid/remote work is occasionally possible if pre-approved by supervisor.
