Job Description: Level 1 Network Analyst
Position Overview: As a Level 1 Network Analyst, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the integrity and security of our network infrastructure. The Network Analyst is responsible for managing all aspects of Duke Health's network infrastructure. This includes provisioning, installation, configuration, monitoring, design, implementation, testing, maintenance, and daily support of network devices. The role focuses on supporting the enterprise network infrastructure across Duke Health's hospitals, clinics, data centers, and research environments. Additionally, the analyst will participate in implementing network projects of various sizes at different Duke Health locations.
You will work with a team of network professionals providing 24/7/365 on-call support, both remotely and on-site, which may involve night, holiday, and weekend work.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Provide first-line support for network-related issues, including connectivity problems, routing, and configuration errors.

  1. Monitor network performance and identify potential bottlenecks or security threats.

  1. Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of network devices such as routers, switches, and firewalls.

  1. Collaborate with senior analysts to design and implement network solutions based on business requirements.

  1. Document network configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.

  1. Participate in regular maintenance activities, such as firmware upgrades and patch management.

  1. Respond to network incidents and outages in a timely manner, following established procedures and protocols.

  1. Assist in the management of network monitoring tools and alerts.

Advancement to this level requires employee, at a minimum, successfully attain the following:
Qualifications and Skills Required:
  1. Industry certifications such as CCNA and CCNP are preferred.

  1. Experience with network scripting and automation tools such as Ansible and Python preferred.

  1. Requires a valid North Carolina driver's license.

  1. Requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

  1. Basic understanding of networking concepts and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, etc.).

  1. Familiarity with network hardware, including routers, switches, firewalls, and access points.

  1. Proficiency in network troubleshooting techniques, such as packet capture analysis and log interpretation.

  1. Knowledge of network security best practices and common vulnerabilities.

  1. Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with colleagues from various technical backgrounds.

  1. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

  1. Attention to detail and the ability to follow standard operating procedures.

  1. Eagerness to learn and stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends.
