Position Overview

The Cyber Security Specialist supports Conti Federal's cyber security program for federal construction and infrastructure projects. This role assists the Cyber Security Manager with implementing cyber security requirements across multiple project sites and corporate initiatives.

The position requires a technically capable professional who can follow established cyber security processes while demonstrating initiative to improve documentation, workflows, and technical procedures. The Cyber Security Specialist will interact with corporate leadership, project managers, engineers, and construction trades to support cyber security compliance and secure system implementation. The Cyber Security Specialist reports directly to the Cyber Security Manager

This role is ideal for an early-career cyber security professional with strong technical writing skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently across multiple projects.

This position is located at Conti Federal Services Headquartered in Orlando, Florida.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support implementation of cyber security requirements across Conti Federal projects.
  • Assist the Cyber Security Manager with execution of cyber security processes, documentation, and technical reviews for UFGS Division 25 05 11 Cyber security for Field Related Control Systems (FRCS).
  • Review and analyze technical documentation, including schematics, one-line diagrams, and system layouts to identify components, data flows, and interfaces relevant to cyber security scope of work.
  • Assist with vulnerability assessments, system configuration reviews, and compliance documentation.
  • Prepare cyber security reports, technical documentation, and project deliverables.
  • Coordinate with project teams, subcontractors, and vendors regarding cyber security-related requirements.
  • Track cyber security tasks, findings, and corrective actions across multiple projects.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and time reporting across multiple assignments.
  • Support preparation for cyber security assessments, audits, and government reviews.
  • Identify opportunities to improve cyber security processes and documentation and propose updates when appropriate.
  • Promote cyber security awareness and good security practices within project teams.
  • Willingness to travel for site inspections as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science or related Engineering field. Degrees must be awarded by an ABET-accredited or NCAE-C (National Centers of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity) designated institution in accordance with the DoD 8140 qualification matrix.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • DoD Cyber Workforce Qualification Requirements "see addendum below"
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense Secret security.
  • Ability to read and interpret MILCON construction drawings, specifications, and shop drawings.
  • Strong technical writing and documentation skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse team including corporate leadership, project managers, engineers, and construction trades.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to support multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Self-starter capable of working independently while operating under guidance from the Cyber Security Manager.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 0-3 years of experience in cybersecurity, IT, networking, or technical engineering environments.
  • Familiarity with federal cybersecurity frameworks such as NIST, RMF, CMMC, FAR, and DFARS.
  • Exposure to operational technology (OT), building control systems, or industrial control systems.
  • Experience reviewing technical drawings or engineering documentation, specifically MILCON design drawing packages, shot drawings and technical submittals.

This position must qualify under the DoD Cyber Workforce Qualification Matrix (DoD 8140 Matrix 2.1) for the Cybersecurity Element - Intermediate Proficiency Level for one of the following work roles:

  • 612 - Security Control Assessor (SCA)

Applicants must meet the Intermediate foundational qualification requirements for one of these roles as defined in DoD 8140.03.

Intermediate Certification Requirement

Candidates must possess or be able to obtain and maintain ONE of the following commercial cybersecurity certifications recognized in the DoD 8140 Matrix 2.1 Intermediate level within 6 months of hiring:

  • CCSP
  • CGRC / CAP
  • Cloud+
  • GSEC
  • Security+
  • SSCP

Military Qualification Alternative

Former U.S. military service members who qualify for the 612 or 722 work roles under the DoD 8140 Matrix through approved DoD training or experience pathways will also be considered.
