Job description

Job Opportunity: Academic Medical Dermatologist

The Department of Dermatology at our organization is on the lookout for a dedicated academic dermatologist to join our team, focusing on both inpatient and outpatient care. This role involves managing 25% of the dermatology consultations within the hospital setting. While serving on the inpatient team, the responsibilities include four half-day morning clinical sessions weekly, with afternoons reserved for consultations alongside the Harvard Combined dermatology resident team. During weeks without inpatient duties, the position will include 2-3 afternoon clinic sessions. Evening and weekend consultation responsibilities will be shared among faculty members.

Our department offers exceptional opportunities for medical dermatologists to engage in teaching and practice at our Medical Center located in the Longwood Medical Area, as well as at our advanced facilities in Chestnut Hill and Needham. We are committed to providing equitable healthcare to a diverse population that encompasses Boston and its neighboring communities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct inpatient consultations and outpatient clinical sessions.
  • Collaborate with the Harvard Combined dermatology resident team.
  • Participate in evening and weekend consultation coverage with faculty.
  • Engage in teaching and mentoring medical students, fellows, and residents.
Qualifications
  • MD or MD-PhD degree.
  • Board eligible or certified in Dermatology by the American Board of Dermatology.
  • Strong clinical skills and a passion for teaching.
  • Interest in research is highly encouraged.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and academic environment.
Academic Appointment

Successful candidates may be appointed as an Instructor, Assistant, or Associate Professor at Harvard Medical School, depending on their experience, training, and contributions to teaching.

Compensation and Benefits

The compensation package includes a competitive base salary, an incentive program, and comprehensive fringe benefits. Employment and benefits are managed by Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians.
